Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Do you feel valued at Honeywell?

I don't. I'm a good employee. I have the knowledge and experience that comes with decades of work in this industry. I always give it my all and I never complain. Despite all of that, I am certain Honeywell only sees me as a number and a paycheck they're looking to reduce or cut completely. They'd like us to think this is normal but it really isn't. Plenty of companies treat their employees like an asset that they are. I've applied to a few recently and hopefully I'll be able to leave this company behind for another that will appreciate everything I bring to the table.

Of course you're valued! That's why HR wants you GONE. You cost too much. You complain too much. You don't earn your keep. You expect a raise every year. You might get sick and miss work a day or two. You might take a week of vacation during some "crunch" time. You might become more difficult to replace with a sub-contractor.

Your value to the company is merely your contribution in terms of your time and your experience/ knowledge which the company remunerates that in a form of a paycheck. View this as a business transaction. Those that claim that they need to be valued and recognised clearly lost the plot along the years or probably just got out of school.
Clock in, do your best work each day, clock out, go back home and be with your family. Repeat each day except weekends and holidays.

Personally, I worked for some major companies - Raytheon, GE, Honeywell. Project Managed & Designed cool things. Never did I feel accomplished in any of the companies. Had great & mediocre bosses, average and smart coworkers. Still never really felt accomplished even though I designed trully new things and also managed very interesting projects.

My mindset is a bit different, I have the skills and I get payed for what I do. Its a beneficial relationship between me and the employer. Its just means to an end, I work to enjoy my life. I really enjoy personal life and family, so feeling of accomplishment and productivity comes from being able to provide for the family and doing things with and for the family.

Every company that I worked for small or large, profit & revenue always came first. There was always a culture of squeezing everything out of the workers just to meet the numbers.

So do the what is required to get the job done and go home feeling happy that you get a paycheck that supports your personal life. In a way, we are doing better than people that have lost their job due to the pandemic. (Personally know a guy that was laid-off, hired back into HW for 40K less, and he took the job because he needed to pay his bills and provide for the family).

They pay you until they don’t. The rest of it is subjective. Their values may not align with your own. Honeywell doesn’t care if you live or die unless you’re existence or absence affects the corporate trinity : The Quarter, The Margin and The Holy Bonus

@uun is right, employee satisfaction is mostly dependent on the individual! However, I left the company pretty recently and can say that my life is a lot better now; I now feel like a valuable employee and am excited to wake up every morning to work - perks also being that I have a life.
After working at Honeywell for a few years you can really see how they treat their own employees...especially the one's that have been there for a long while.

Talk to some of your EX coworkers.
See if they feel more or less valued at their new job.
I have found a vast majority of people who left Honeywell for similar size organizations thought it would be much better but found it to be about the same overall.
Make sure they are past the honeymoon stage.

A lot depends on where in Hon you work, and what team. I've been extraordinarily lucky in my long career. Had some great bosses, and some not so great. But my peers have made the difference. Plus the bad managers typically are climbers, and eventually leave anyway. I left Hon at one point and was far more miserable. So glad i came back, and pretty happy since. Every scenario different, so I encourage anyone to better their life, by changing jobs or leaving altogether. It's up to each individual. Your life to control, not Honeywell or anything else....

I am ok with working for Honeywell. Is there a greener pasture out there? If yes, I would explore that opportunity to support my family. Definitely I am not complaining. Peace.

Well, those two responses tell you how much our peers value us...and themselves as well. Happy to take the sc-aps left by the next guy. A sad, sad place.
