Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

When is the next round of layoffs and who will be hit the hardest?

I heard rumors that layoffs were coming in April but nothing concrete. Can anyone provide insight?

you will never have that question correctly answered by posting on this forum. T is in the midst of an ongoing long term headcount reduction. period. it will come in spurts. some spurts will be big, and others will be small. it will mainly be pure luck whether you get stuck without a chair when the music stops in your group every few months. just do your job, don't get in any fistfights at work, don't steal from the firm, don't grab a coworker's rear end, and don't do anything else completely stupid, and you have as good a chance at survival as anyone else at your level in the company. the cold hand of fate will determine whether the bullet with your name on it ever actually arrives.

The same people saying April or June will soon be saying August or October. I hope I am wrong, but it's wishful thinking that this leadership would do the right thing.

June is the current target date for more reductions. History does repeat itself

"Just wait until the Whitehouse rolls out the tax increases to business....you think you've seen layoffs before,"

Yes, just like the big tax cut the company got kept them from laying off tens of thousands of people.

Anything you read on here is only rumor, speculation, innuendo, call it whatever you want, but it’s mostly personal thoughts. There is nothing concrete about layoffs here because no one knows, not even upper management at this point. I’ve dealt with rumors for over 3 decades and I’m still with T. So, don’t be looking for answers here because it just ain’t so, here!

If you're basing your layoffs on taxes, you probably aren't doing any real work. Just complaining about how unfair life is.

@@ggy, regarding pipes, you need to put yours down. That post is some stoner free-wheelin brain dump.

Just wait until the Whitehouse rolls out the tax increases to business....you think you've seen layoffs before, those will pale in comparison.

Rumor is a pipe
Blown by surmises, jealousies, conjectures
And of so easy and so plain a stop
That the blunt monster with uncounted heads,
The still-discordant wavering multitude,
Can play upon it.
