Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

What still keeps BN together?

I don't get what keeps this company together so that it does not fall apart and disappear. What kind of glue is it that still keeps it working somehow?
The store I work in is so depressing that every day I expect to hear the news that tomorrow there will be no more BN at all. What a pity, this could have been a great company, if only they had started adapting to new times earlier.

Inertia. People just keep doing the same thing they have always done because they don’t know any different.

EXACTLY!
And that’s why they’re failing!

Adapting to the times is zero bricks and mortar retail presence and zero booksellers. Shoot most paid writers today are being funded by Patreon. Even if BN "got with the times", no one out of corporate would have their job.
