Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Members don't care

At 7:55pm we made announcement that club will be closing at 8pm and members are walking around here at 8:20pm like its 5pm in the evening not trying to leave and now when the security guard says we are close time to leave they want to get an attitude smhhhhhhhhh.

yelling, "he's got a gun," while running past them usually gets them to head toward the exit.

We had one decent security guard who actually got out of his truck at closing and came to the exit door until we locked up so he could phone in to his supervisor that his shift was done. Other than that they don't leave the seat of their vehicle. They have to guard their food and magazines. They are paid garbage wages and we pay the company 30 dollars per hour plus vehicle maintenance monthly

Managers Should not be letting members shop after club is closed. 8:15 all members should be gone. Too many managers without a backbone that’s scared to say anything! And you wonder why Members are out of control?! Back in the day when a Member would disrespect an associate they would get their membership cut up and walked out the front door! Man I miss the good old days!
Back when Sam’s stood for something and wasn’t scared of everything and every member!

You have security??? That's not fair. We had one for like 2 weeks when they first "required" masks then then the company or club got cheap and that was it, they never came back. But that was a laugh anyway because not even security could make them wear a mask or leave just say "hey, masks are required". So we had all kinds of members furious of the people strolling around with out a mask on.

No, it's not the nature of retail. Just this retail or certain clubs. We can't make an announcement. They messed up our system when they tinkered with the dumb music player. However, I have entrance start notifying people coming in at the 20 min mark that we close in 20 min. Then after we close the doors we do a head count. Then proceed to walk around and tell folks we are closed and to please make their way to the registers as they need to be closed. Especially now that hours are changing and ft cashier's leave at 9 as well as the team lead. So unless they plan on covering OT... 🤷🏼‍♀️ Sorry. Gotta go. It's posted online, on the app, at the front door and you are notified you have 20 min til closing. They wanna let people shop til 9.. I guess AMs or PM merch team leads will have to ring them up and turn in tills. Cause I don't get OT. And merchandisers have a huge list every night. No one has time for that. Our store has been closing at 8 for over a year now so no excuse. You know we close at 8. Don't be a tool.

In my club we don't make announcements. So like 8:15 lights shut off on them. Doesn't stop them. Pre covid and pre block schedule, I closed and they made us stay til the last member was out of the club. Imagine like 6 merchandisers, 1 cashier, 1 cos, closing maintenance, and like 5 closing fresh associates standing at the register waiting on Karen to buy her tampons. F—ing ridiculous.

Why are you waiting till 7:55 pm to announce closing. Way too late. You should start no later than 7:45 pm.

We've had a member for 10 years that comes in 1 minute before closing and spends one hour shopping. We couldn't get forklifts on the floor without spotters and she refuses to hurry up. She called home office and they said to let her stay as long as it takes to finish. When she finally gets done she sits down at the cafe and waits for her cab or uber. Frustrating that we have to dedicate a baby sitter until she leaves.
