Sam’s club/Walmart is a multi billion dollar company. Please explain to me why employees are sweeping the parking lot?! 🙄

They used to squander the yearly Christmas party money on food and Starbucks for the stupid meetings they had for team leaders and safety committees
You get a Christmas party??? We never have a budget for squat ... According to management. Yet we constantly exceed sales, memberships and credit. 🤷🏼♀️ so yea, wherever that ends up... Maybe we should sweep the parking lot too.
Dang, you guys are in a strip mall!!!! We have a lot to ourselves, on the outskirts of the city.
Why complain about a easy job?
Since we don't own the building or property we were at the mercy of the property management to charge whatever they wanted to. So if there was empty shops in the strip mall area you had to pay more for the service. I think we were being charged around 5 or 6 grand per month. So I kind of understand why we decided to clean the lot ourselves
1960's here. Didn't know you guys were sweeping the entire lot. We have an outside sweeper crew comes in and does it at nights. Guess your GM is a bad guy.
Your cm is either cheap or blew the clubs budget for the quarter already if the street cleaners aren’t coming by to clean the parking lot. Same thing happened at my club last winter.
Let me make a correction: my fellow employees were not just sweeping around the entrance/exits. They were quite literally sweeping the whole parking lot.
Because it's your job.
No, I agree. Even maintenance has more things to do than that. The bathrooms should be maintained a lot more frequently, trash bins etc. Sweeping the parking lot. Outside the vestibule or loading dock itself, of trash is dumb. They should have a street sweeper come through. Our parking lot is way too big for that and people are pigs. They litter everywhere. It's just too much to maintain. And only caring when it's getting out of control is stupid. Just have someone maintain it. There is enough inside for everyone to do and the cart associates struggle enough, especially when, at our club, we are never fully staffed in that position.
I don't get your point. Sweeping up around the doors and some other areas...so what, big deal. We get paid the same, no matter what we do. I'd rather sweep instead of run a register. Groceries in and out of carts all day long, it's factory type work with a kick of having to be a used car salesman from the 1960's.
They're hoping we find enough loose change in the lot to turn in to accounting to help pay for the Christmas party.
