Less than a week and March is here!! Another 1000 or so will be gone the month of March leaving approx 6600 combined employees from the total of 8600 in Jan 1. I believe they will continue trimming this number to below 5000 by years end.. Efficiency

If I may interject I think people are complaining about the retention bonuses because management are laying people off while giving themselves bonuses. They are trying to save money by laying people off but at the same time giving themselves more money.

It’s not that they get a retention bonus so I want one, it’s no one should be getting retention bonuses while we are laying people off.

It’s greed on the part of management pure and simple.

And did I say that management was wonderful, nope. Bottom of the barrel. Post is not off the mark at all. Yes, people are complaining about wages and salary..." how come they get retention bonuses and we don't, boohoo"

Oh woe is me, my life at CVE is so terribly hard. Tech people at CVE should have a good hard look in the mirror, you make an extremely good salary, granted not as much as the incompetent management and definitely not as much as the king and his court of jesters. but your life is pretty good and honstly you don't have to work that hard. If you think you have to work hard you should do a few years at an EP to get a bit of perspective adjustment.

If you don't like it, and you are as good as you think you are, I would encourage you to leave for a less toxic environment. nobody is making you stay. Is it greed that is making you stick around for a package? Your own attitude is contributing to the poor environment.

Your post is really off mark. No on here is complaining about bonuses or wages or benefits. Literally no one. That is you making stuff up. What is being complained about is toxic management and bad business decisions. That’s it. That’s all.

So try and distract people or whatever and then go back to your HR role and wait for March. We will see who complains then.

I don't feel one bit sorry for those that are left. They wined and complained about bad moral, to constant lay-offs, worried about their jobs, blah, blah.

Then a round of lay-offs would go through and they were safe, but now they would be complaining about the raise not being enough, or the bonus not being enough, someone getting more than them, etc Absolutely zero gratitude for still having a job, unlike the 1000's in Calgary that are on the street looking.

Don't get me wrong, CVE is a c-appy place to work with bottom of the barrel management, but also a bunch of completely greedy employees who seem to be incapable of any gratitude for what they still have. I think that has just become the culture of CVE, continually bad moral perpetuated by ungrateful employees and c-appy management.

Are you kidding? It is already ugly and has been for years. People have been worrying about their jobs for long enough now that it is part of the job. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to who is let go.
I'm sorry for those who are gone but more so for those left wondering if the hovering axe is next meant for them.
