I understand it’s all business and money, but laying off people who are about to retire? I’ve heard that some of them were only a few months away from retirement but they were still laid off. What are these people going to do now? Is Anthem doing so badly that they decide to make such desperate moves? Really, awful. Because of everything I’ve seen, I will give notice as soon as possible.

I was RIF'd in 2020 but due to my age (65) was treated as a voluntary retirement. I received a payout in accordance with the then HR policies and am also supposed to receive a prorated bonus.
I am now on unemployment. When I applied, Anthem relayed that I had voluntarily retired which wasn't factual. I appealed and due to Anthem not responding in a timely manner, prevailed.
- I'm VERY happy to be an ex-Anthem employee
- Thanks to the current occupant of the white house, I'll get 9 months or more of payments with the $300-$400 a week extra pay.
- Life as as an unemployed person is fantastic!
Note: As I always lived below my means, I have amassed a great deal of money on which to live out my years.
The funny thing is the CAO started her career not long after high school at a not-for-profit NY bcbs (who after a few iterations became Anthem). She was afforded every opportunity for success being born in the country provided (freedom, security, low cost education, low cost home ownership, etc.) and and worked her way up to the c-suite. That kind of upward career mobility is almost unheard of in this day and age. Like many of her ilk, once at the top forgot all about the little people working in their careers with their own hopes and dreams - and setup/participated in this system of globalism where people living in high cost of living locations have to directly compete with people in other circumstances. All while those at the top accumulate massive wealth and prosperity. Me personally I wouldn't be able to sleep at night laying off good people in a 100 year pandemic to send their jobs offshore. I guess all that wealth makes it easy to sleep at night.
Maybe Legato will be her undoing. It’s only a matter of time before the house of cards comes tumbling down, and every executive who willfully ignored what’s going on should go down with it.

Yes it is has its own wiki.
Fast Forward is E2E part two
What is fast forward really about?
It is truly amazing Gloria is still here. She must have pictures of someone on the board. I remember the days when boxer wanted her gone then Lori and she continues to survive. Let’s not forget to largest data breach in the history of the world was on her watch... how much money does an old woman really need anyway - power is what drives her nothing else and ability to get rid of whoever questions her.
Anthem is also infested with rejects from UHC and Molina as well. It’s a toss up which external company - UHC or Molina - has done more damage to Anthem. Both Nitin and Tim S were former Molina executives that have hurt GBD and Anthem. If you truly want to destroy a company’s culture populate it with ex-UHC and ex-Molina leaders.
The person is correct about Gloria. She’s been with Anthem for 30+ years; she’s leaving on her own time. However, she will continue to destroy Anthem with Gail’s backing.
The Coke CIO was simply a pawn, meant to be the face of the CAO's grand plans (particularly, everyone back into offices). Most of the bad decisions and associate abrasion can be traced back to the CAO, who is the one constant in senior management over the past 8 or so years. Unfortunately, she obviously has the ear of the CEO, as instead of being dropped like a bad habit, the CAO continues to accumulate more power (FFwd). And unfortunately, even if she were escorted from the building today, leadership is now littered with her hand-picked lackeys, so the incompetence and anti-associate culture is certain to continue.
Anthem became a wannabe UHC when it hired Gail. The only problem is Anthem is too restricted by the BCBSA rules to be as big as UHC nor has it acquired any new Blues in decades.
@ @OP+19sLKB8X. Lay off before retire. Just be in the 'know' Execute your retirement benefits, if applicable if you're laid off. They make it a point to NOT tell you you are eligible for retirement. If you do not you could lose what's owed to you, and goes into Anthems pocket. And if the package is the same you should 1 week for every year of service up to 6 months if applicable that's not bad . Regards.
It really is telling. Anthem wanted so bad to be like UHC and they forfieted all common sense to do so. They hired Coca Cola CIO and he rail roaded a strategy to bring folks back in office. He was given the okay to build a big tower in Atlanta. Then they gave Deloitte a massive contract. Then you knew his day would come and he would be blamed for all wrong doings in IT. Oh yea and the data breach.
Executive Leadership should be held accountable for these bad decisions. This and other decisions put Anthem further behind and now stock price for stock holders is all that matters. Nothing else does. There is no hope for Anthem at this point. If you can leave, you need to.
