Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Let's Connect Live on HR Updates meeting

So we just received an email to join Stankey and the new HR lead puppet goon Angela Santone so they can tell us more about benefit updates and compensation. This was only sent to supervisors of level 1 through 4. Friday 2/19 at 11:30 CT. The topic is to talk about creating stronger AT&T for long term. I am an area manager with 22 directs.

I am sure they are going to tell us how the benefit changes/removal to medical and dental subsidy or reduction of pension benefits are not targeted at older or more tenured employees, but rather to make same playing field for all employees. We all know they are trying to motivate older employees to leave. F... them.

And how we as supervisors have to tell employees why they are getting no raise or lump sum as part of their merit raise even if they received extra ordinary rating, because they fall outside the new lower salary high range, while couple of my lowest performing employees are getting good raises to get them to 80%. Again F*** them. We supervisors have to be bad guys for something we got no control over.

Reality is young people don’t stick around. I work in a tech hub with high cost of living. About 75% of college hires have left in recent years. Some left for other tech companies and some were surplus’ed. A small group had worked diligently into level 2. A couple played the game into level 3. Most are under utilitized, engineering/cs grads wasting their life in the bureaucracy.

Most older employees just want a fair deal, willing to work hard and adapt to change. All the IPI and spot awards can be proceceived to promote competition. The flip side is overall bonus payout is drastically reduced for non executive ranks, while executive pay/bonus/stocks/pension continue to skyrocket.

If you are in your twenties, that are way better opportunities for your talents than here, and you don’t need to play silly games to get ahead.

Actually, no there aren't lines around the block of young talent yearning to work for AT&T.

It has been common knowledge for a while what a poor place to work AT&T is. T is now having trouble finding workers willing to join this company.

Amen! If you don't like it, there's the door! There are so many qualified younger people who would love to get the experience.

Older employees on this forum sound bitter.

Majority of the people whom are complaining do not work as hard as their team members, slack off and benefit in higher pay. If you don’t like it leave.

Best believe you won’t find another gig with your current skills.

If you felt you could you would’ve left by now, yet you’re plagued by poor career decisions. Loyalty does not exist.

I’m a young high paid, high values employee well past the midpoint. Top rating earning an IPI AND 100% CPI this year not to mention the new spot bonus mid year.

Do us a favor if you cannot handle the changes leave. Plenty of young talent willing to stay here for ~ 2 years, grab a senior title, leave and cash out. Play the game.

this will only be useless fluff, aimed at pacifying the persecuted until they fully serve out their sentence here and are released one way or another.

if you're older, they want you gone. you're only future hospital bills to them as you age further. plus, you don't drink the company koolaid here at nearly high enough rates.

if you make more than a survival wage, they want you gone. they want to find someone more desperate than you to fill your job. like tomorrow, if possible.

if you have job experience and contribute daily to the company, they don't care. That is not who you are to them- you are an employee ID, a job title they slapped on you, and a dollar figure on a paycheck.

they hope to never have to pay for any medical bills for you or your family, ever again, and they can't stop doing so fast enough in their book.

they don't care if you can't pay your bills in your retirement, that's your problem, not theirs

if you actually have any true talent or career aspirations, they hope you leave as soon as possible to pursue those at some other company. they'd love to see you exit tomorrow.

take the required training because they have a list on that, and it provides possible ammo for them to do even more bad things to you. don't give them more bullets.

Stankey stinks. After stripping away benefits that were already grandfathered to a finite group, and not from NEED but from GREED, he sends out an email encouraging people to s— it up or find another company more aligned with their idea of change, or some such nonsense. Maybe Stankey should go to a company that’s already aligned with his idea of change, and leave us and our benefits alone! He is a clown with no vision, no savvy, and no integrity.

Should be a very short call, not much left of real valued benefits at T.

I can't wait to hear about this years bonus windfall. I did the math and I spent 400 hours in 2020 watching youtube at my desk, and getting paid for it. HAHA!

I won’t be watching either. Because of Stankey I’m retiring this year to keep my benefits. I will continue to do my job until I leave but I will not participate in this type of town hall bullsh*t anymore. Guaranteed he works in something to the effect of “if you don’t like the changes, then you should find another job”.

Let me guess:

1) Benefit costs are going up and will continue to go up.
2) Compensation policy change benefits few and penalizes most
3) Performance commitment creates more paperwork for everyone, yields benefit to no one, and absence of promotion/progression/merit increase makes everything pointless.

Regardless, Stankey/Santone will claim best in class and there is no morale problem.

Not wasting my time by attending. What would be the point. Over it.

"This was only sent to supervisors of level 1 through 4." No this did not go only to supervisors. Single contributor manager received it
