Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Thanks for the tutoring service for the kids I don’t have.

You know what would be better than a tutoring service? A merit increase this year that actually outpaces inflation.

When this company loses anybody worth keeping under 40 years old, there should be no question why. For anybody not on a pension plan, there is simply no reason to weather the storm Aero is going through right now.

The pension program was frozen circa 2014 and then eliminated. So, even if you do have a "pension", and I use the term very loosely, there is little reason to hang around... except location or waiting for the right opportunity to leave. As I've told dozens of recruiters, I can be choosey because I still have a job... for now. Most of us not under 40 can't wait another decade for the chance that something like real raises and half-way decent leadership to develop.

This is really complete BS. They did no survey to see if employees want this or will benefit from it ... I smell a grant too or benefit to Corp not having anything to do with helping employees. Heck offer employees vouchers for the 2020 Christmas season they endured as a token. Of appreciation,”...not much but a card signed by ALT and $5-$10 voucher for coffee..that shows you care, but a tutoring program heck send your employees on meaningful training instead of the CYA ones.

Thanks for providing stimulus checks to those making below $150K and not to me

It's a $40/month service that is being offered for free. Any idea how many parents and students could use this extra help? I swear you people just look for anything to complain about.

What a joke? This tells you all you need to know about leadership in this company and how they actually think this helps employees. Anything to avoid giving anything resembling $$$ to employees. You will all have an even better laugh when the Karen's add this to your total rewards package and pat themselves on the back fort giving employees even more benefits during this difficult time. The tutors are probably free and told this is how you become a future shaper to help other employees in need. Sad,sad state of affairs at HW.....the slide will continue.

Fantastic idea. My dog was laid off from security services on the keystone pipeline project. He is hoping to get a job installing solar panels even if it is less money. Maybe the Koreans at tutor.com can help him learn solar installation skills.

Since this tutoring also applies to family members, I'm going to see if I can get some help teaching my dog to code. Maybe I can get him an internship, especially if we continue working from home. Grandpa Joe says this is the wave of the future and even coal miners should do it. The dog likes to play in the dirt and that's sort of the same. As communication skills are not a priority for software types, he can support my Teams calls too. Drool on the keyboard might be an issue, but I can get him a cover. Even if he doesn't get much done, I fear he may end up higher in the 9-block than me though as everyone seems to like him. Woof.

@1ebr+19qdOAwO, the reference was from here, https://www.statista.com/statistics/244983/projected-inflation-rate-in-the-united-states/
It was not so much the hard number, but more if it's less than 1%, there is a chance to outpace inflation! As all know, raises in Aero have been substandard for yrs, multiple furloughs, salary freeze, reduced pay,...on and on. Covid just another greed opportunity to not let pass.

I'm not going to complain about a benefit that doesn't directly apply to me.

With the cancelled merit raise last year I am now behind where I was in 2006 when you account for inflation. (Anyone young who is asking themselves if they should stay or leave for a different employer should think about that for a moment.)

It appears that the "average" inflation rate for 2020 was 1.2%. For the 12 months ending December 2020 the rate was 1.4%. The ~0.6% mentioned in one of the posts must be the June 2020 number.

That inflation number is massively manipulated by overweighting transportation cost. Look at housing and food if you want a real measure of inflation. The USDA reports CPI for food was up 3.4 percent to 3.9 percent in 2020. The FHFA reports housing prices rose 6.5 percent year over year from July 2019 to July 2020.
Still believe that .9 percent inflation number?
Inflation is running above five percent for real goods.

I smell a government grant or a relative of the leadership team that is involved in tutor.com

We used to have an on-site grade school back when Honeywell was a high tech company .. on site school, in building banking with tellers, gymnasium. The cafeteria had not been closed by order of the health department and we would eat real hot food and knew the chef by name ( we miss you Susan).

Now we have a vending machine and a tutoring website... progress. Thanks for nothing guys. It is insulting. Stop congratulating yourselves for half measures. Give people a reason to come back to work. Pay real teachers to tutor from the local community. They need the support.

They had a chance to help the employees - $6B covid care loan so as not to RIF employees. or was that 12B? Did see those benefits or did they turn to profits

It’s okay if we make you work 55 hours a week because we gave you a homework baby sitter. Thank you for selling the most important years of you children’s life to Honeywell.

Honeywell should add free d–g/alcohol/social media rehab for your children as a benefit to bring it full circle
