Layoff as some kind of relief?

After six years of trying to hang in there, I walked away. It was a great paycheck, but it wasn’t worth the stress on myself and most importantly, my family. The long hours and super sized work loads almost cost my life. I saw my work colleagues burn out and one person in my department had a mental breakdown due to the stress. My advice, Sit down with yourself and your household and review the budget, what can you go without? I took another job with another company for a small pay cut and it was worth it! Professionally, Physically and mentally, a huge improvement. I had no idea how truly toxic it was until I left and started working somewhere else. My point, life is too short and there are other employers and leadership out there who are a better fit, adjust with modern work styles (including WFH) and will appreciate and recognize a great work ethic and attitude. Best wishes.

post @2aiz+19eXO4cO - I absolutely agree. I do so much work and I am under so much stress, that it seems to me that layoff would come to me as a kind of relief.

It was an absolute relief for me. Sure, it was upsetting to dedicate several years to a company and basically be slapped in the face. I won’t lie, it’s been nice not having to deal with certain higher ups who think they’re God-like and pulling sneaky moves like getting rid of people then brining in a new manager with no experience. If you think you can trust someone, stop and reassess because everyone is trying to save their own @ss.
