Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I am just trying to live my life and raise my kids

i don't have the years of service as many do. I am not a bargained for employee. I am sitting at just over 15 years as a "manager" but have been well compensated as I see it. I am not disgruntled about pay/benefits, even though it is disheartening to see what AT&T is doing at this time...My advice to anyone that has a family and wants to establish a "career" do your family a favor and move on.

My take on AT&T...

AT&T CEOs want to rub shoulders with the "up and coming" j–koffs "now...industry leaders" like Zucker, Cook, Bezos, etc...to try to fit in. But the knuckle head CEOs"..." are not able because they already missed the boat since they are not entreprenuers..they are products of the system they have "grown up in". Unfortunately AT&T is being used pathetically by these tech GIANTS who are just simply smarter.

Seems that most everyone agrees, there is a very dark cloud hovering over at&t. If you have a family to raise and minimal net credited service it may be wise to look for employment elsewhere. About the only reason one would stay with at&t is for PDO's and wages, not much left regarding benefits.

How about raising your kids and living your life on gig jobs? I was let go at 45. Pretty sure for ageism. One of my kids has been in 7 different schools in 4 years. My others, 3 but they still got 4-5 years of school so they may get to attend more than than the oldest. Am I bitter and angry about the lack of stability. Hell yes. My kids have moved around more tan military kids.

Stick around as long as you can.
Make as much $$$$ in the shortest amount of time possible.
Stop caring....they don't.
Get out of debt.
Smile, wave, and cash the checks.
Be smart enough to be "stupid"-yet do a good job.
Profit.

My advice is to take your own advice and move on. You have 15 years of experience that you gained from T - use it! I left on my own last year (missed rule of 75 by 5 years). You might work harder after you leave, but you’ll make more and feel even more valued.
