"But ask around and you will find out that they did in fact change off payroll of 60 days during 3 previous is a surplus down to 14 days"

I don't need to ask around, I am well aware that they did that. I never mentioned anything about the surpluussed 60 days reduced to 14 days thing in my post. I thought that was a real c-appy thing to do to people during a pandemic, especially when you tell them you are doing it to "help" them. I am well aware that they don't care.

What I did mention was the management severance policy. I mentioned that there was a Management Severance Plan that covered the terms of severance pay for non bargained, and that whoever stated the terms of severance was decided on a case by case basis at each surplus event is incorrect. All non bargained/ management surplussed receive severance according to the Management Severance Plan. I know many that have been affected over the last few years, and I know this to be true. I am also keenly aware that they can revise/ change / do away with severance at any time. The Management Severance Plan was last revised in 2015.

Management severance has been and is still covered by the Management Severance Plan.

Okay , so I do t know what you are trying to accomplish with Q , I actually had to file what that is . But ask around and you will find out that they did in fact change off payroll of 60 days during 3 previous is a surplus down to 14 days. You are fooling yourself , THEY DO NOT CARE ! I don’t care what you think is policy the fact is they do not legally have to offer anything as a severance package. I get the sense you had a participation trophy or 2 growing up

We already know this is bullsh*t.

The company is going to freak out when they discover how much talent / expertise they've lost come Jan 1, 2022.

Just within my small circle, I know of several who have plans to retire / leave prior to Dec 31st because they get scr*wed healthcare wise if they don't.

Sure, you CAN stick around beyond Jan 1, but if the company lays you off after then you're REALLY scr*wed. Thus, the reason so many will likely be leaving if they are retirement eligible and not yet qualified, age-wise, for Medicare.

@2lcr

I bet you are a biq Q and conspiracy theorist guy too (use of the word "sheep" is a dead giveaway).

Management severance has been and is still covered by the Management Severance Plan.

It is not decided on differently for each surplus event. That is completely incorrect/ fabricated information. There are plenty of things to gripe about, let's not go about making up additional things.

“ Wrong, wrong, and wrong. There is a management severance plan, it can be viewed on HR One Stop. ”

Yeah just like the 60 days off payroll went to 2weeks overnight. Misinformation is when you think because it is in HR one stop it is the gospel ! Get real this company does what they want and if you don’t like it hire yourself and attorney because they have plenty of them. But keep thinking I have hr one stop and mycsp articles.....sheep

@tzb "As a surplus employee I can give some insight. Severance on a manager level can and will be decided in a package. It is not bargained for . Each round can and will be different"

Wrong, wrong, and wrong. There is a management severance plan, it can be viewed on HR One Stop. It clearly outlines the terms for management severance (which is currently capped at 6 months). Each round is not different. Sure they can change/ revise/ rescind the severance plan. But the last revision was 2015 and it is still current. Stop spreading misinformation, it isn't helpful.

Did you say let Union employees grow the organization? That is funny. That's like saying let the millennials run the country. LOL.... Sit around and cry about what they don't have, and how bad they got it. Give me a break.

I have they have figured out non-management can do what management is doing for a lot less money, I know a manager that orders telephone poles. Really??

It’s almost as though T is going after non-union employees only and leaving the unionized employees alone to either grow the organizations or just let them be even though there currently isn’t enough work out there to justify their existence! I don’t get it...nothing seems to make sense anymore! In years past when work was this slow, it was usually time to worry about layoffs looming overhead! Not now, seems like it no longer matters!

@hxe+19k74ITH there is no such thing as "earned severance"; if you think otherwise you are very VERY confused

I guess enough time has passed so here's another "massive" layoff post. How many "massive" layoff posts have there been before that don't pan out? I see more of the usual, more whittling away. The only thing that can create "massive" layoffs is a shutdown of copper. I don't see that coming, at least not in the 2nd quarter.

Move along, nothing new here. The way leadership manages T is akin to continuous re-arrangement of the deck chairs on the Ttitanic.

As a surplus employee I can give some insight. Severance on a manager level can and will be decided in a package. It is not bargained for . Each round can and will be different. Bargained employees look at the union contract. This company has everyone fooled into the whole 6 months ordeal. They use a formula to determine what amount of severance with time and tenure. They reserve the right to change that at anytime they please or see fit to do. Bankruptcy is the only way pension can be taking . Not saying this ship is not on its way to bankruptcy in certain departments. Fact is get out fast as possible, life without The ATT is so much better . It’s scary to find employment elsewhere, but first believe in yourself and the abilities you possess , remember you built the empire they did not build you!

Really. The "pension clawbacks" is a dead giveaway this is bogus. The pension money is yours, there's no taking it back by the company.

While we all see that psycho Stinky strives for new hieghts in screwing over employees while enriching himself, I doubt there will be mass layoffs when approx 14,000 management meet MR75 and a significsnt number will leave for free.

But then again, this would be a clsssic Stinky b0nrer stupid m0r0nic decision which is the only one he mskes!

yes, every year the layoff announcements....but this is completely new news to me. Taking away the earned 6 month severance when they only give 2 weeks notice? That is some f'ed up management if you ask me.......

Makes no sense. If they fire people before end of year, then those people get medical subsidies (for those that get it currently before Medicare eligibility date). The smart thing for company is to wait out this year and see how many volunteers they get from management ranks, before going through with any additional surplus rounds. So I don't think this post is accurate.
