Does anyone know what’s going on with the CO and DEG folks?? Heard they were integrating. Worried about layoffs....

Well. That might not be a bad idea. I am a CO tech. Over half of my crew have 40 plus years of service. It is a real challenge at times covering for those on vacation or on disability. We are steadily losing headcount due to attrition alone.
CO’s are the last place temp workers should be. Better get ready for mass outages! What a mess that is going to be!!
@1wnn....if it’s like other parts of the country they are consolidating circuits into as few systems/boards/racks as they can and turning down any unused equipment...same for the Remote Terminal equipment as well
From talking with CO techs in CA, they're hiring temp / term employees for project work within the CO's. What projects I have no idea ( neither do they ) but that's what they were telling me.
Makes perfect sense to me, which is why I don’t think T will do it. If they combined the 2 it would eliminate the hot potato game when isolating troubles. If they combined the actual work it may help keep them busy if there’s any slow times. Some of the SLC folks are slammed with alarms.
Come to AZ, they’re still hiring techs for work that’s supposed to be coming sometime soon so they hope!
It was my understanding from a few sources that Comm Tech numbers in central Texas will be reduced by half this year to early next year. We had over 165 in Austin several years ago. Now, it’s about 20.
