Rebadge Followup

For those that were rebadged in 2019 hows it going? Are you still with Accenture, IBM, etc? Are things better or worse than working for T?

Nope, let go one year to the day rebadged as in the contract for one year

Such a tragedy that T keeps going after management positions, yet keeps growing its bargained for employee side of the business! Don’t know why because there hasn’t been enough work to stay busy for 15 hours per week for the last six months let alone the forty that I’m getting paid for. I’m not complaining, just wish the organization would communicate the future with us, but they never ever share anything with us!

a team I'm familiar with was rebadged to Luxoft in September. They all got raises but other than the best comment I hear is "I have a job"

Got re-badged to TechM. It is a decent company to work for but their HR systems are awful. This is my second year and I hope to finish it. ATT is moving work elsewhere and will put us on a starvation diet. We keep losing people (contractors and offshore) every month. I work hard and hope they will keep me but I know it's just a matter of time before I get benched. I retired from ATT so this was going to be a temp gig anyway. I feel sorry for the younger folks who were moved since they have 10-15 years left to work. Given Covid, I am happy to sill be employed.

The week before going to IBM in 2019, got a NDA offer from T HR for an almost 200K retention bonus to stay at IBM until 8/31/2020; Was told in May 2020, last day with IBM was 9/1/2020; Did not do anything from late May to 9/1; Got 3 month severance, vacation, and harmonization pay and one year free medical from IBM; collected retention bonus from T in October. Best rebadge deal in the world!

365 days of pay if rebadged, 60 days if not. Doesn't sound like either option was going to be good, but maybe the rebadge was a better offramp.

We were rebadged to Tech M last year, some have lasted, some have quit. Most of the contractors that were rebadged were let go.

Many of T folks sent to IBM in September 2019 are long gone. But that was the plan all all long. If your job didn't get offshored, it got offloaded. Neither was a happy ending for T employees.

Yeah, but they made me move to Mumbai and take a 90% pay cut.

That was the employee fear (and likely the company plan) with the re-badge initiative. AT&T gets the employees off it's books without having to worry about a surplus or a voluntary buy out. Employees join new company with no tenure and usually a one year 'guarantee' of employment. Accenture gets a huge contract from AT&T. After the year commitment, Accenture looks to cut costs and improve profitability on the contract. In this case, Accenture is letting the employee go and not AT&T.

My group was hit hard with re-badge to Accenture in Dec of 2019. Many of those folks have had their jobs moved to offshore in January 2021. Essentially they are temporarily on the 'bench' or have lost their job. Sux
