Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T is pushing customers into a whole new level of customer complaints

Not sure that was money well spent, but it sure made me laugh (and take notice.)

"Aaron Epstein, 90, is so frustrated by his 3Mbps Internet plan that he took out a Wall Street Journal ad in today's print edition in order to post an open letter to Stankey."

Too expensive to put fiber in once. Makes more sense to patch copper again and again and again

I was an AT&T employee and left after 22 years (surplus after getting promotion the year before). I kept my family of 3 on AT&T wireless. Have AT&T uverse and AT&T internet. I recently made the decision to port my numbers to T-Mobile after trying to get a late charge taken off because of their billing issue. The customer care rep said I would NOT be charge a late fee. So, I'm saving $100 a month and a week after porting my numbers that I've had with AT&T, they start sending me emails how I could have wireless service for $27/line.......where was this while I was a customer? Just shows they don't care about their current customers, only the ones they don't have. They should realize it's much cheaper to KEEP a customer than to try and win me back.

Guy should just. Move to a different provider... Or at least of your gonna take out an ad in times target the real crooks. The local and federal governments that allow this duopoly monopoly to exist. Why most places only have a few options for Telecom services is a crime and a monopoly pure and simple,

Just another sign the company has lost sight of it's core business.

If Randall and Stankey hadn't been off buying unrelated nonsense, we could have plowed literally tens of billions of more dollars into the network. That's exactly what the chorus of us "low-lifes" had been saying for years. The company would now be in a strong leadership position from everything that's now important - from 5G to broadband. Instead, the company is desperately giving word of mouth to fiber and trying to find politicians to give AT&T money to do what it should have done 10-15 years ago.

I think it was money well spent. The guy is 90. He can't take it with him, so why not call them AT&T out on their poor service, and get a little personal satisfaction at the same time. And at 90 he doesn't have to take c-ap from anyone. Well played Mr. Epstein.

Sorry, but this is just stupid. The guy can't get AT&T high speed but he has Charter as an option. Boo hoo. He wants an AT&T label on his internet and isn't happy if someone else provides it. Sorry, but not sorry.

I live in New Jersey where Verizon made a deal in 1993 that provided the company with subsidies and tax cuts in exchange for a promise to wire all of the state with 45 Mbps fixed-line broadband by 2010 (They now offer gigabit speeds). Verizon then refused to live up to the deal they made and worse, Verizon was then caught sending bogus public support letters to the state Board of Public Utilities, supporting a provision that lets Verizon off the hook for the failed promise. They ended up cherry picking dense areas and left the rest of us in the dark.

Verizon had 17 years to wire the state and here we are now 28 years later and a quick check shows I can sign up for 1.1 mbps "high speed" internet with them for only slightly less than the 200Mbps plan available 3 miles away. I wish I had the option of fast internet, but it's not available FROM VERIZON at my location....so I have 200Mbps with my cable provider (Optimum). The only thing I lack, like the guy who wasted his money on the ad, is the ability to play two service providers against each other to keep my fees down (don't worry - I'll live paying a bit more).

The guy could have saved his money and just taken the internet from Charter. It's not like AT&T made a deal (like Verizon) to give him high speed internet and then failed to live up to their end of the bargain. They aren't required to cover every address and made a business decision not to.

Pretty sure they're going to give this guy 3 months of hbomax and a free hotspot and pat themselves on the back for their "effortless" customer service. Watch for the success story on insider.
