Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

What is your breaking point?

Right and as we get cut again and again and told to do more work who gets the retention bonuses? Not us, just the management. They ask us to identify savings, they ask us to cover and work harder to make up for all the laid off workers and THEY get the bonuses. I’ve already been approached to ask what else I can take on even though I’ve been picking up extra work from the other 8 rounds of layoffs. People are going to snap. I’m sick of it and our management. How much can they abuse people and then just tell us we are lucky to have a job while they take all the rewards?

Excellent description of the situation posted on @1amh+19aZacTj. I just wonder how much longer we can endure working at this pace.

Its time for the big bro clan to get some work done if they want a job. Too much based on who you were friends with and disregarding others work jus because they were out of the clan
I was disgusted how Husky was in the past years, though many years back I trouly enjoyed it. Happy to be out.

To the person who posted this: Do that and it will show how stupid you are. Entitled f–

You can’t blame the employees for trying to maximize their profit and take away $$. They’re just following the leadership’s example of taking what you can while you can. Otherwise they would not be taking $30M in retention bonuses while laying off 2,000 people.

I don’t blame this guy at all or anyone who tries to make money off CVE. They’re just following the leader. I mean look at Al, he’s taking $600K and leaving so why shouldn’t this guy grab what he can and leave.

Each to their own path I say. CVE is now just a pay cheque.

If they did voluntary severance they'd have to do a hiring blitz to replace everyone.

I took on 3 people's workload and managed to make it happen... then they laid me off. I'm was then contacted to help steer the bozos in the right direction.

Just wait for the wave of consultants to roll in

Just do what you can and if you no longer enjoy what you do look for something else. I'd rather direct my energy in what i can control. Cenovus does not own my life or my career.

Just quit we don’t need you here at CVE. Says the managers who want their retention bonuses.

No one will quit while they are handing out packages. I still say we should let people volunteer for packages. It might show the management just how many people are sick of this place, but I suppose that’s why they won’t.

In November I was asked to take on more work. I gladly accepted. Then on January 26th I was toasted. But the severance was fair.

I've started pushing back, and refusing to do much work (just the minimum). I'm trying to force severance. Everything is at a stand still, and I've asked my manager for a payout.
