It is a no for me to move. Love the trees, lakes, puget sound. Rain not so bad, we advertised the rain a lot to minimize the migration here :-). It is absolutely gorgeous this week and sunny. Fortunately lots of jobs here with many employers looking for avionics exp.
No doubt difficult decision for all.

i've spent a lot of time in AZ. I'm approaching retirement age and a warm dry climate sounds better to me than 150+ days a year of rain. I have enjoyed my 35+ years here in greater King County but this may work out real well for me. YMMV

@7xhp, good information, thanks. Bldg 1 also went thru some soil remediation from Sunstrand toxic waste. It would be interesting if MS just demolishes the site after Honeywell, and puts something else there. Maybe a child care center..ha ha. Sorry to here about this, many WA folks will not want to move to AZ, although they could get a pretty sweet house in AZ, selling their WA place.

Sensitive equipment was one reason a move to Minn many years ago did not proceed
They are now moving the mems production from b4 to the extended b3; those are sensitive equipment. But moving
Nothing is guaranteed.

Regarding Redmond site and Microsoft, can confirm earlier comment that Microsoft owns the buildings on the Redmond campus. After that, it's more speculation than fact...Honeywell has a long-term lease. I don't know how much is left, but I think it's something like 10 years. Microsoft is investing heavily in upgrading the rest of their surrounding campuses, so may not be in any hurry to develop the HON site, though my guess is if they decide they want to develop it before the lease runs out, they will offer an incentive (or maybe pressure) to get HON to move out. But it's also pretty clear HON wants to vacate Redmond anyway, as evidenced by the move of most of Engineering to DV (so pressure likely won't be necessary). My guess is HON will vacate well before the lease is up. I think the biggest problem they have is the lab space they have in building 3 which will be difficult/expensive to move.

I am curious to know more "real" information about this. So I know Redmond site is surrounded by Microsoft. Even the previously leased bldgs are full of MS now. So what this means about ES folks? Is everyone impacted? What about the sensor engr and manufacturing? Please, anyone, just share the facts as you know them.

Lots of great people in Redmond - I always had a great time with my co-workers.
Wishing everyone good luck and hope that they find a company that values them.

No big surprise as ES slowly abandons its manufacturing capabilities and sells it off to Celestica. Every ES site has a project linked with either closing down or consolidating it with some other supplier somewhere. Folks in that business better be prepared. You read it here first.

@pwu I am in Arizona and I sorely want to chastise you. But I can't!

Not everyone here is like you say but we do have some loud ones.

Your point about the perils of relocating is spot on. Who knows what moves/cuts are coming next.

Thanks HNY leaders*t. Way to F alot of people with estabiIshed jobs and families out of their lives. You want to Re-lo-cate to AZ for less $? Then what the F happened with spending the last 15 years splitting off Mfg and Engineering to other sites? Oh, and thanks to that D-Bag guy at the Mand Mtg who was here 6 months & said "I gotta go off to another mtg in 3 mins, so FU!'.

@awi...

I rather agree with you. However, no matter how much I do I won't get a bonus. My manager and the line up the chain will but I won't.

So I do my job well but the 11 hour days are over.

Based on other postings, it seems like most of our colleague's are doing as little as possible to help the company reach customer milestones, so is it a surprise that we are not getting a bonus?
