Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Would you like to be a manager?

I personally think that they make easy money while doing nothing. From my perspective, being a manager looks like a very comfortable position. Still, I’m just an ordinary worker who doesn’t quite understand their job. Anyway, it seems to me that I would love to be a manager for one day just to see how things look from their perspective. Would you like to be a manager in this company and what changes would you advocate?

First there's not one single asst. manager that got a bonus of 60k, where are you hearing this. As a manager our bonuses was maxed out last year and it was not even close to 60k. All 5 of us asst mgrs together might of gotten that much but not individuals. I highly doubt CM gets close to 200k either. If hourlies were getting max quarterly bonuses than your mgrs got one as well but nothing close to 60k. If hourlies didn't get good bonuses then mgmt. didn't either. I don't know about other mgrs. but im pretty much on a lift every night trying to help my crew get out of there by 11:30 pm which very seldom happens. Money is ok but not alot of joy being a mgr.

Don't know what Club the person with the bonus was talking about but if the CM got 200K, then the Fresh Managers got 40 to 80K. The floor and front managers probably lucky to get $7,000. Bonus is structured toward CM and Fresh. Good floor managers are burning out faster now than ever, they are going on to other companies.

It would be a pay cut to be a manager... They work 50 hours a week, so for an hourly that's 10 hours of overtime each week... Figure it out.... I made 62,000 last year as a lead.... No thanks!

Good to know management is the same at at least half the clubs in this company. Worthless.

I have been a manager. More often than not, though not with this company..the money?? Sure!! But I am not the type to do/say nothing. Can't do it. First off the day is too long to do nothing, and second, I have a lot more self respect and dignity than that. Clearly most do not. As well as most people on here. Which is why it is such an apparent issue. Because it is wrong! The turn over rates would be lower and club Morales would be higher if management were better. It's not a question. It's a proven fact. And if corp wasn't such a festering wound, imagine the overall morale of every club, and the resulting member satisfaction.

My store manager got a 200k bonus after last year's covid slaying, managers under her got, from what I hear, upwards of 60k. A few of them work hard, the rest, they don't do sh–! Stand around and talk and make notes that they could easily just fix themselves in a matter of seconds. So yes, make me a manager and I will gladly delicate to lower level employees without lifting a finger. Also, team leads are getting pretty f#$ck#$g lazy too! Whatever happened to hard work is recognized? M

Yes I would. If you play the role correctly, you can pit 1/2 your crew against the other 1/2 which causes massive conflict among them; and both sides leave you alone. The @$$ kisses will eventually come to you with solutions to the problems and they work extra hard to keep you happy. The dregs will continue to complain but they are basically harmless. You can cut their wages or fire them at will. All you have to do is know how to use and manipulate people. Piece of cake.

lol. The only time my Managers do anything is when things become to big of a problem for them to ignore. Instead of being proactive they've become reactive. If something does not affect them directly they show little interest.

I was a manager for over 10 years. I stepped down and never looked back. Don't regret it for a minute.

Sure, its always greener on the other side. Try driving a business (objective numbers) with folks that have attitudes or believe everyone is against them. Being held responsible when goals are not reached and tasks are not completed.

A half million a year would be what it would take to convince me to step into that festering cesspool of shady corruption.

Any intelligent person wants to be a manager. You make a lot more money to do a lot less work. Let the serfs and plebes get their hands dirty while you take all the credit.
