Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Ex Comdev Aylesbury site closure date - December 2021

Just a quick update on the Ex Comdev Site Aylesbury closure dates.

Sad day at the Ex Comdev site in Aylesbury, final termination dates of September for about half the staff have been issued. The rest to go at end of December when site finally closes.

Hats off to the Edinburgh and the business manager for managing the Aylesbury site to this point. Only 2 years ago they were looking to expand the business and the site to this, where they have reduced number of staff (from about 80) to a skeleton crew trying to keep the Titanic afloat. (By the way life boats to Edinburgh not very full)

Overall, it has taken this management 5 years to k–l off a thriving business, started in 1985. When Honeywell acquired this site, it had just won its biggest ever order, after that a couple of minor wins over 5 years. All this Space heritage to come to an end, such a shame. Another British company gone to the wall.

Finally got laid off last week, best thing that has happened to me, have new job to start in few weeks time.

The most ironic thing is that we were made to complete all the new training on the new Honeywell philosophies even though we had a week to go.

I was there for over 15 years, not a thank you from any senior project manager or business manager, guess that sums up Honeywell and how little they value there staff.

Glad to be out of it, feel sorry for the ones left there till December.

Condolences to all the ComDev folks.

ComDev was sold to people with the OPPOSITE philosophy as ComDev. You sacrificed to build a strong business based on talent and capability, aimed at serving customers. Honeywell bought that investment on the strength of your bookings and has been trading away your hard work for their dividends and bonuses ever since. When nothing is left, they will write down the loss and move on to the next victim.

This is the (Allied) Way

Worked at ComDev 15 years ago before Honeywell…. Recently worked at another Honeywell acquired company, they changed everything there and made a nice company a horrible place to work. Sorry for all the staff at ComDev as it was a nice place to work but ruined by Honeywell.

The layoffs of most of the remaining staff has been bought forward from December to September. It must be the only Moneywell program/ project to be ahead of schedule let alone bought forward by 3 months.

So if any program managers are reading this, if you want to know how to run your projects ask the managers of the Aylesbury closure team in Edinburgh!!

I am based in the Cambridge location and have not heard of any closure. We have been absolutely decimated though by rifs over the 5 years of hon ownership but we are somehow hanging on. We were once 1100+ strong, now we are 300 with more isc/eng rifs announced last week. Every single perk has been eliminated except the occasional ice cream. The building is mostly vacant and dark. It's quite the sh1t show and every paycheck is a bonus. There is no hon love here.

HW doesn't like the Space biz. Never did, never will. how much investment do they make? very little. that's how much they like them.

The usual story when you get taken over by Moneyhell.
If there was ever a need for a book 'How to k–l a company in five to ten years', Moneyhell mgmt should write it.

Yes. Spacex has already built all the RF experience they need. They do everything in house and have demonstrated over and over that this model is faster and gets the job done better.

The cowards running Honeywell have nothing but contempt for their own workers... of course some random company off the street can do it better..
cowards one and all... unwilling to invest, know nothing but how to blame their own people when things don’t work.
