Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Who else likes their job?

Am I the only one? I frequent this page to make sure layoffs don't catch me 'with my pants down,' but I have no axe to grind against the company like so many here seem to. I'm well compensated for what I do, I like the people I work with, and what I do is challenging enough that it's never boring. There are things that could improve - the frequency of layoffs among them - but overall I'm happy where I am.

Toxic mindsets are contagious. I loved my job early on, then several years ago I got caught up in all the negativity being spread by my disgruntled and self entitled peers. All of a sudden I noticed I too was starting to hate my job, and found myself considering a career change. What I started pondering, though, was that my job had largely not changed all that much since the beginning. So what did change? It was my mindset. Once I realized why this occurred, I started distancing myself from all the naysayers. It was lonely at first, but then I noticed that not only was I starting to enjoy my job again, but I was also getting better at it. People started noticing, and then new opportunities started popping up. Fast forward a few years, and I’m now in a position that is challenging, rewarding, and pays much better. I’ve managed to find a great work/life balance, and wake up every day looking forward to a job I enjoy doing. I now visit this site on occasion to remind me of what I almost became. In a bizarre way, it helps me be all that more grateful that I was able to pull myself out of the muck and get back to enjoying my life. It’s sad to see so many still wallowing around in their own self imposed misery, but regardless of how much that misery loves company make sure to avoid it at all costs. Could I get laid off tomorrow? Unlikely, but possible I suppose. If I do I’ll leave with some money in the bank, some great memories, and a massive contact list to help get me started on the next chapter. Beats the heck out of leaving downtrodden and angry, trying to convince as many people as possible that they need to follow you to save themselves.

I used to love my job and the people I work with. However, after watching most everyone I worked with get let go and pushed out, I don’t even recognize the place. Over the past 6 years we’ve gone from bad to worse. Now, it’s just a paycheck until I can find my next job at a different company

"Team"
hahahahhahaa.
It's not a team, it's a job.
You work for you.
Your "team" will watch you get walked out and not care.
Your "team" will rat you out in a heartbeat to save their job.
Your "team" won't take up a collection to help you when you get canned or surplused. Rather, be happy it wasn't them.
Your "team mates" will lie, steal, deceive and screw you six ways to Sunday if it benefits them.
But keep thinking you're on a "team." RAH RAH!!!!!
This is why many can't survive.

Management is clueless......never disliked the job. The management not only was clueless, but, become a major hindrance.......focusing on the minors. I.e. cones, work boots, a forgotten sticker....MICROMANAGING at its worst!

I love my job and team. I continue to be paid so nothing wrong with that. At the same time doesn't mean you can't be on here and dislike or hate certain things about the company, particularly the horrible leadership team and bonehead decisions by mostly 2-3 individuals.

Those 2 things are mutually exclusive to a large degree.

I like my job and direct team but feel like we are a small part of a larger organization like The Detroit Lions.

It's refreshing to see that HR has the surplus resources to monitor this board.

You are not the only one by a long way. Prepare for attack from the rude and angry minority at AT&T. The ones that have childish nicknames for current and former leaders etc.
