So Depressed Working at T These Days but Need My Job

Why are there so many horrible people these days at T? It is difficult to just get out of bed and to work on Mondays? Is it just me or is anyone else experiencing the same situation? Mean, nasty, dishonest, lying people who dump their work on others and do not want to do their jobs? I have experienced this mostly within Product Management organizations. Few and far between are okay, a small few excellent but the majority are clueless sock puppets and think you are subservient to them. They feel that they are not responsible for anything even their own work they pawn off on others. Really incompetent, lacking in character and ethically reprehensible. A couple of d—beats making life for those around them miserable. They yell at people and drop calls if they do not agree or can't answer a question. Most folks are aware of these known d—beats but no one understands how they thrived so long when so incompetent and mean to boot. Anyone else experiencing this? I have considered reporting a couple of them for their behavior but I am not that kind of person.

As someone in Product, I can tell you there is tons on pressure on these teams to deliver. The higher ups depend on these folks for their bonuses so it’s garbage in garbage out. Yes, there are many in product that are clueless (looking at all the Best Buy and Macy’s nepotism hires that recently came in). The other part is many of the knowledgeable SPMs are just overloaded and don’t have time to babysit everything. You’d be amazed at the bs we have to do with these new processes. The good folks have left or are in the process of leaving. I’ll be leaving very soon. Already been interviewing with many companies, just waiting on the offers.

"my company's stock price is like 20 times the price of the cesspool att" - that statement shows your ignorance. It's the value (stock price * # shares) and growth of a company that is important. Yes att is lagging in growth and creating shareholder value but comparing share prices between 2 companies is meaningless . You keep digging those ditches and smiling - they say ignorance is bliss and your there!

I am sorry you are experiencing this many on my team feel the same way in mobility. We have an area manager that is utterly incompetent on many levels. He would tell his managers that he “would never hire a woman again” The best thing T could do is let these people go they damage the company and the sentiment they spew is like cancer

To : @mat+19OQg1HX —you are a lie. i felt the exact same way when I was there from 1979, worst managers, would do nothing about certain people, had favorites, took gifts from employees, had no education. I was so depressed but trying to get to 66 and I did. You go work in a call center where you are treated like dirt. Collections.

It is depressing and what makes it even worse is that there is very little work and every day I go to work I’m hoping for an offer of a severance package that never seems to come! Seems like other organizations are being impacted on a monthly basis, but it will never get to my org. and a lot of people wish it would, hence, depression!

To : @mat+19OQg1HX Sounds like you lack empathy. Some psycho babble for you; It sounds like you are not interested in putting yourself in another person’s shoes. Empathy is the ability to understand another person’s reality while thinking about or being aware of their feelings. There are people who don’t have this quality and it sounds like perhaps you are one. How's that for psychological projection?

sounds like the last the three to four years before I left. I should of left earlier but leaving was the best decision I ever made. making more money and doing cutting edge technology and my company's stock price is like 20 times the price of the cesspool att.

I would get out as soon as you can. the sooner the better off you will be. trust me you don't think that now as I did but looking back I should of left earlier.

Nice try freud....An a–hole is an a–hole.....There is no reason to be mean, rude or nasty. It is a work environment and people need to be respectful of one another period.

I kind of agree as there a lot of a– ho*es these days as most people are disgruntled due to the takeaways etc. and a lot are hanging out until end of year when they can jump ship. Don't listen to these other jerks on here as it is not just you saying this as a lot of folks are. Unhappy people breed an unhappy environment. Hang in there as there.

@mat is saying: "If you run into an a$$hole in the morning, you ran into an a$$hole. If you run into a$$holes all day, you’re the a$$hole."

If you think there are so many horrible people around you, the truth is that the horrible one is you.

Psychological projection is a defense mechanism in which the ego defends itself against unconscious impulses or qualities (both positive and negative) by denying their existence in themselves by attributing them to others. For example, a bully may project their own feelings of vulnerability onto the target, or a person who is confused will project their own feelings of confusion and inadequacy onto other people.
