Managers give good ratings and raises to their friends. It is every man for himself. And managers, 1st and foremost, want to protect themselves and surround themselves with people they know really well who are on their team of knowing exactly who to blame. Anyone working in other groups is enemy, blame them first. Then dump all the hard jobs on the few poor others in your group, and blame them when it can't get done. There will be no help. Buddy system in place, stronger than ever.
They promote the same couple of people to the upper elbow every year in my dept who s— up, do the dirty work (i.e. travel) & don't talk back to Mgmt. OTOH, I could walk on water and raise the dead with what I do but I will never get credit, cuz I'm not a s—up.
I got a PIP after working til 3 AM for nearly 3 years! 7 days a week (yes for free since I’m an engineer). They love slaves here! Yes the definition of slavery is still when you work and don’t get paid for it.
Pathetic employees that will blame everything and everyone for the position they have put themselves in.
Removal of those who display "incorrect thinking" or those over 50.
Hilarious that you think anyone other than yourself remembers such a momentous occasion such as this. LOL nobody knows, nobody remembers, nobody cares. But you just keep on thinking you made such an impact that you will be remembered forever.
I was the one on that Hon intranet (forgot name of it , been 2 years) that responded to JE's posting of Bravo to a PR Tech manager so he can buy a guitar. I responded , "what ? you not pay enough in his salary so he buy one? Also PR employees get have the half of matching % in the 401K we get on the mainland . " Well, that earned me a PIP.
Did any one say mandated 15% free OT? I had Glendale HR tell me after I submitted letter from my cardio doc stating I not work more than a 40hr work week, that "you will work whatever hours we tell you". Then I was let go some weeks later, HR claiming I disrupted a skype meeting (4people my group with temp (who later left and group management was transferred to PR) manager who knew nothing of our job duties.
Favoritism, Nepotism, Criticism, Cynicism, Narcissism, Pacifism, Totalitarianism. Need I say more?
Ethics is a human trait, not a corporate trait.
Not really on topic, but when the CEO mentioned at his initial "Town Hall" meeting buying $500 bottles of wine, I knew he was out of touch. (sighted by @1uql as a contributor to ethics issues) I think he lost a lot of people (employees) confidence that day...what an id–t. Kind of like the previous CEO. He was asked a tough but appropriate question at a town hall meeting and he reply was something along the lines of "Are you asking because you are the bravest, or just the most expendable". What a jerk.
I must be blessed to work for (still) for one of the most innovative companies?
I saw reply purchases "financed" by suppliers at 90 days - where have you been, best in class procurement is now at 180 days (but we'll give you our banker's number and they might give you a loan)
Giving military work to low cost regions (absolutely happening).
Giving no raises and no 401k match for several years in a row,
AND furloughs in same years,
and soul-destroying PIPs,
ramoant intimidation work atmosphere,
massive layoffs followed by re-hiring of younger but not older prior employees,
elimination of pension plan,
prior CEO complaining publicly that Social Security is k–ling the big corporations,
while drawing 20+ million / year in just salary, another CEO talking about cost-cutting sacrifices and quality and the quality of his $500/bottle wine,
yeah, no ethics problems here at all.
labor relation violations/union busting
excessive outsourcing/dismantling of US companies/predatory capitalism
tax avoidance
environmental violations
workplace safety violations
manipulation of corporate reputation (Glassdoor, etc.)
general employee abuse (broken promises, lies, exploitation, etc.)
subversion of democracy/corporate welfare
Promising to match employee retirement contributions, but then laying people off before the payout as a cost savings.
I'll Play...
Giving you a decent raise and then taking it back and then some with Furloughs.
