2-26-2021, Manager sent out email that Telco services are being restricted and will not be available for customers to order. Also, if customer has it and moves, they can't take Telco services with them.
I understand technology is advancing, but there are customers who rely on Telco services nationwide. Shoot just 2 weeks ago, my telco line was the only service that worked well during the winter storm. As for as my cell, it showed no service for 2 days.
SBC actually provides local service to a a few areas in N.JJ. One I’m aware is an area near Hope in the NW part of the state. Not sure if there too many others if any at all. Verizon by far is the dominant carrier in the

This sounds like Uni, a 3rd party telephone service offered by AT&T Corp. This doesn't sound like telco in the SBC/Bellsouth footprint.
POTS worked great for me during Hurricane Sandy. Cellular and VOIP were out for weeks in my area, but my POTS kept working.
Was this former National / Local service? I didn't know we even offered POTS in NJ.
That said, who do you get internet from? Most cable providers offer VOIP cheap.
If that's not an option, make sure Wifi calling is enabled on your wireless devices. It works very well!
Duh. Do you need a buggy whip for your car? POTS is long past dead. Even the geezers I know have ditched it.
I just got a letter from AT&T. POTS is being discontinued on May 3, 2021 in NJ and my phone service will be disconnected - pending regulatory approval. There are no other AT&T options for home phone in NJ, so I will have to switch to Verizon.
In some states, AT&T has been allowed to stop offering POTS services, however they offer internet and VOIP voice service. I'm sure the list of states continues to grow.
