Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

People, this is just a job!

Why in the world are you letting it affect you as much as it does? You shouldn't have to dread coming into work, you shouldn't be stressing over the weekend instead of relaxing with you family, and you certainly shouldn't have to be taking medications to deal with that stress. There are available jobs! Even if the pay is lower, getting out of a situations some of you are describing would be worth it. If I felt like that about my job, I'd be gone by now.

Leaders and winners are always denigrated by the jealous and the weak. Nothing new here. Losers resort to profanity, name-calling and intolerance because they are just doing what they know.... blame/excuses/deferral.

To the OP – most GREAT COMPANIES got there by adding value not only to the products they sell, but also to the people that help sell it. In the insurance Biz, that means ALL of the people who touch the product from sales, to services, to claims, to admin, to management, etal. In the past, we all took great pride in pulling our oars together to help build our brand image and our VALUE to each and every client we serve.
The erosion of Ailstate started before TW but has been amplified by the extreme disdain management holds for anyone that bears a different thought, different process, or different viewpoint from theirs. We used to speak up so the persons "commanding the boat" could help us keep pulling our oars together. When they stopped LISTENING about 20 years ago - we started to lose direction and now we pull in all sorts of disjointed directions - simply going nowhere - and our customers can both feel and see it with their own eyes.
Transformative Growth is the latest buzzword that almost instantly "died on the vine" the moment it was first uttered. Prior to that it was "Reinventing Insurance." Another death knell.
Most of us who still CARE don't complain simply because we have nothing else to do. We do it because THAT process is what made this company great - by listening - and adapting to the ideas put forward from those of us who are the "boots on the ground." The lack of listening on their part - got us to where we are today. Opinion Surveys have been spun into the latest corporate "word salad" - nothing of substance has come from them over the same period.

I understand where you are coming from but Op, you need to have an understanding of the people you are shaming. Not everyone handles stress the same way. Everyone's situation is different. Maybe, these are 1 income earner households and depend on this job. Some jobs are safer than others; maybe their job is on the line and it is only a matter of time. Situations are also different across the country. Maybe the person lives in an area where employment opportunities are very low. If I had a 45-50k job with Allstate in AL I am not leaving the job to go flip burgers if I have a family to support. Don't think about what you would do but think about everyone's situation is different.

I see see the cowardly and weak resort to profanity, threats, and calls for censorship. Very predictable.

It's just a job that many of us dedicated years and decades of our lives with the intent of a successful career. We added value to the Allstate brand, we treated customers with respect and dignity, we all added to the success of this company. Then the rug is pulled from under our feet, corporate decisions no longer value customers or employees. It is sad and shocking to many of us, we will all survive the chaos, we will land on our feet again. This company will be but a blip on our memories soon. Keep the faith keep fighting, keep up the dialogue amongst the remaining soldiers still fighting for what's right.

Some people commenting here are obviously the product of low breeding; what gives you the right to call people weak??? Years of human observation? Where in your basement. Keep your garbage to yourself, if you enjoy your work good for you; maybe you are happy being in an untenable situation or maybe you are an F Tower blowhard; either way grow up or shut up

OP is spot on. Healthy, intelligent people manage their lives successfully and don’t let “circumstances” dictate their path.

Weak, cowardly people tend to see themselves as victims, and blame everyone and everything around them in order to justify their failures.

This is not a judgement call, it is merely an observation of generations of human behavior. Winners win, and losers lose.

Insensitive and callous comments from OP, everyone’s situation is different. Anyone in an unhealthy relationship personally/professionally has the right to feel and process the emotions that accompany abuse/toxic environments. Some have a plan to get away, some are working towards a solution and some are so worn down as they try a keep food on the table and a roof over their head. Wherever you are at in your situation, know this forum has been a life saver for many of us!
