Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Given all of Stinky's claw backs, would you stay if offered $

Manager asked if I would be interested in any of these POTENTIAL indictments in lue of retiring:

  • part time contractor
  • full time contractor
  • retention cash not to retire
  • restricted stock not to retire

None of these are approved. He was going to request.

Goes to prove that Stinky is an id–t.

But I am not an id–t either- I told him I would run away from worthless T restricted stock.

I don't understand how I could be a contractor, as unlike Ratty, I would have to sit out six months before coming back as a contractor?

Would you consider any of the other alternatives he mentioned?

If I had my rule of 75 I would leave and come back as a contractor. I cannot get access back to the ATT systems until I have been gone 6 months. I was told this will be the same next year when I hit my 75 and retire. This may depend on your department but either way I was told I will have to wait 6 months.

No one is talking about getting laid off here. The question is about quitting AT&T and then coming back as a contractor. I was actually thinking about this very scenario last week. Seems too good to be true. Where do I sign up?

You have to wait 6 mos. Half of my Team is made up of ex-AT&T and ex-IBM or AT&T outsourced to IBM who got laid off. A lot of those laid off in past few years or outsourced and had to retire; are now back working as Contractors. There will even be more of a need for knowledgeable folks near-term as I have heard from so many folks with a lot more years than I have stating in the past two weeks they are leaving end of year due to benefits and all the other c-ap etc.

This will not get approved. If does, they will open up a lot of lawsuits. Run Forest Run

If I retire now to get full advantage of benefits that will go away 12/31, I would certainly be open in coming back as a contractor to stay employed a few more years (until the date I was actually going to retire). I don’t think you have to wait 6 months if you retire. Right?

I thought you only have to wait 6 mos. to come back as a contractor if you are surplussed and receive 6 mos severance. If you are retiring on your own with no severance, can't you come back as a contractor immediately???

What a silly post. They want you to leave. They're offering you nothing to stay.

Tell him a 1 year guaranteed paid contract for a cool mill and at the end of the year they can renegotiate for additional years.
