Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

We are doomed with Stankey

This guy is incapable of admitting when he's wrong. He's incapable of seeing any of his moves as being anything but great. He'll just continue to do what he set out to do in the first place, screw everybody else. And for as long as they let him do it, AT&T will be the worse for it.

"..things will look much better after laying off the underperformers..."

  • Indeed! The only underperformers around here are John and his Merry Men.

As even Wall Street knows by now.
Totally agree they need to go.

Well spotted, @2ywi+197EuJ16 !

Yea, Stanky is great!
I hear he's quit the screamer in meetings!
Screams and yells when he doesn't get his way. Completely dismisses female employees when he doesn't care for their suggestions/ideas, then later fires them, runs legacy, successful business into the ground like Warner Media, Needs Randy to come rescue him and the company after a few months...def doing a fabulous job!

Stankey and Randall will ensure the workers continue to be paid well and have great benefits. And things will look much better after laying off the underperformers. Cut that fat!

he's so bad that he had to rehire Stevenson for a million dollars to work a quarter of a day.

Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. True, the T-Mobile breakup fee was utterly negligent because it provided an incentive for the government to reject the deal without offering conditions to make the deal go through. And the Directv purchase never made any sense. A mature business that used a different architecture than existing products and delivered no synergies. And it saddled us with Latin American assets that compliment nothing in our portfolio. But those decisions were the CEO’s. The expenditures squeezed out investments elsewhere. So, a terrible strategy that hampered business leaders across the company. I hardly think it’s fair to state that everyone in all of management is clueless, unethical - or whatever - due to unprecedented errors from a couple people at the top. Without just those two errors alone, it would be a drastically different company today.

"...(though T-Mobile has been shrewd and a step ahead in getting the upper ground on critical 5G spectrum.)"

It helps mightily when one hands their competitor $4 Billion for failing in their attempt to acquire them.

And not one executive was canned for this epic failure, which has become a case study in business schools across the country.

He does a great job running a huge company though. Despite the vocal bellyachers. Go Stankey!

This is exactly the reason I do enough not to get fired and collect my paycheck. Our execs do it so if its good for them its good for me.

I originally had lots of pride working here and saw a path forward to leadership roles but now I treat it like our leadership folks do....Collect your paycheck and give zero Fs about it.

Nothing will change in this dumpster fire of a company while John Stankster and Jeffy McFreshy are at the helm. Along with the other clowns in John and Jeff's immediate org structure.

Every town hall transcript is "blah blah blah blah blah...Innovate.. Employees are the best...Structure our business to be more agile...Fund the pieces of our business that make money and cost savings initiative.." There you go we just had the next townhall..No need to attend it. Oh BTW more layoffs coming since that is the only way Johnny and Jeffy know how to fix Johnny and Randy's failed mergers and acquisitions.

Did you notice how he labeled Civil Unrest as Ugly? Thought that was interesting when he supported it, encouraged it, and decided we all needed training on it. Now, it's ugly?

Ameritech/PacBell/BellSouth was arguably a strategic win where SBC was able to grow and eventually take over those three and Legacy T as well. That's credit to Whitacre. He understood the value of scale in his business.

Since then, the strategy has been to teach the old dog new tricks. Communication company? No, media company. That hasn't worked out as planned, so now there seems to be tentative acknowledgement that T must pay more attention to what it knows, which is the phone business (though T-Mobile has been shrewd and a step ahead in getting the upper ground on critical 5G spectrum.)

So what else is new. These id–ts have a history since 1984 of throwing darts or slinging bugars at a wall chart
and buying whatever it sticks to.
My pipes? Project Pronto? Gotta get big and buy Ameritech/PacBell/BellSouth/ TMUS and the list goes on.

This is the great culture perpetuated throughout the management chain: starts with incompetency, cover up failures with lies, give self a huge pay raise, and repeat.
