There was talk about layoffs at the end of January a while ago, what happened with that? Any news? Are we safe this week or not?

So far over the last 2 plus years, CO technicians and BFS technicians have been spared and are considered safe. If you have the skills, it’s probably a good move if you’re looking for stability and there are positions out there in various areas of the southwest.
Too many people spending way too much time not working, About time we got some layoffs and new workers will skills for modern technology. Too many workers hanging around talking about their old telephone knowledge.
Exactly, if employee value increases slower than their comp increases, it doesn't make sense to encourage employees to stay on for 20, 30, 40, 50 years.

I love the OnE ATT employee, probably HR, claiming it’s the lack of skillz is the reason for all the layoff!?! I guess that person doesn’t read the paper. Poor business decisions have cost people their jobs!
Why on earth do you think any job is safe? Even the military has been laying off/discharging hundreds of thousands in recent years.

That's how it works now, even at big tech companies. The rest of the world hasn't stayed frozen in the 1970s, like AT&T. You're going to have to keep your skills up to date if you want to stay employed

Att Employees are a disposable commodity. Stankey himself says he expects employees to work here a few years and move on. They are no longer interested in paying employees long term benefits or incentives. They don't want you making att a lifetime career. They want assembly line workers like McDs. Put the special sauce on the bun and pass it to the patty guy.
If you have to ask if you're safe, you're not safe. Clearly you do not feel safe, do you ?
