Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The hate is strong

I've been going through posts here and noticed that hate towards Stanky is mighty strong here. Not that he doesn't deserve it, Mr. "Nobody knows more than I," but this is some next level sh–. Even when he does a rare good thing there's no winning. Talk about losing complete support from employees within a year of taking over.

When you destroy thousands of peoples lives to cover for your terrible business decisions, people get angry and will def call you out! Stankster gets paid the big bucks, I'm sure he'll be fine!

Why don’t you enlighten us grand poobah, that statement shows poor leadership if the employees aren’t informed or communication is lacking.

Employees that really don't know what is going on can just complain and hate. What else do they have?

Not Hate. Experience.
We are not the judges, just the messengers.
We all wanted this company to succeed.
Everybody worked their fingers to the bone.
But, over and over again, we were told to work on the wrong things.
We all knew it. We all reported it.
To no avail. Except to get fired.
Need proof? None of their strategies worked out, did they?
The wheels came off the day in early 2007 already when Randy had Big Ed escorted out of the Board meeting, because Ed told him flat out he needed to quit running the company into the ground.
It never failed to fail after that.
The legacy continues with John, who had pulled the strings in the background for many years before even becoming CEO.
They really have no clue what they're doing.
If they did, these posts would not exist.

no hate just what @1gvu+193AG3Jr said. people should be able to finish their career on their terms when they want financially. that just isn't done at att. att is a cesspool and a nwo company that could care less about American citizens except to keep billing them charges that have no meaning and just increase their charges. most importantly people should not have to train their replacements under false pretenses.

My team came across from another company that was acquired by AT&T and brought in-house. Almost immediately we were treated with utter contempt and disdain by AT&T legacy employees.

Whenever the firm you work for is acquired by another, it's a good idea to kick off a search immediately. Talents perceived as key to the company are always offered rich retainers to stay on; others aren't.

The workers started employment at AT&T after reading the rosy picture of all the great benefits including pension, retirement healthcare, bonuses, pay raises etc... Now they are ANGRY after being duped near the end (age discrimination) of their careers while the enriched elite pulled the rug out from under them. Can you say unethical, immoral and should be criminal.

A lot of aging employees have lost hundreds of thousands due to outsourcing, layoffs, rebadging mostly by selection. The companies knows when an employee is approaching MR75 and targets them with the above
reductions, spreading the peanut butter unevenly.

Workers are paid well. Good benefits. Bellyache a lot. That's life at AT&T.

He lost support before he even took over from rand. he went through and destroyed organizations by outsourcing and laying off. notwithstanding having current employees train their replacements.

The next year for HBO will be ‘like childbirth,’ AT&T’s new media CEO tells employees.
Love this one.

The total frustration with this company and the hatred for its incompetent C-Suite is well deserved. The Board of Directors is even worse for letting this disaster go on for 10+ years.
My team came across from another company that was acquired by AT&T and brought in-house. Almost immediately we were treated with utter contempt and disdain by AT&T legacy employees. While our company was performing very well financially and had good brand recognition, AT&T treated us as the red-headed, freckle-faced obese children in foster care nobody wanted. It was ridiculous. We immediately got the shtty assignments legacy AT&T employees thought they were too good to do. Our work was constantly checked and scrutinized for mistakes, even though no mistakes were ever found. To say legacy AT&T managers were fing inept is a gross understatement. They couldn't manage a 2-hole outhouse in an Ex-Lax factory. Every supervisor or manager that came across with us were either demoted by AT&T into a lesser role, or pushed into a corner forced to perform menial work, while legacy T managers were applauded and promoted for f*ing up projects and incurring enormous cost overruns.
To try and understand why anyone with any talent whatsoever would want to work for this sinking company is mental mas—ation.
Glad I left.

stankey is hated for what he represents, a class of overpaid mediocre corporate managers who are making their pile stripping away the wages and bennies of american workers and funneling the proceeds to wall street firms and the super rich. beyond that, he's partially if not completely responsible for a series of disastrous business decisions that have undermined the stability of companies on which the lines of tens of thousands of people depend. and on top of that, his boundless arrogance and all around creepiness come through in all his personal communications and appearances, making everything he says and does like fingernails screeching across a blackboard. and if that's still not enough, this hypocritical mediocrity with a really bad attitude has the nerve to preach woke to people captive at work, where they have no choice but to listen to his b—s—. regardless of how you feel about woke, the idea of this clown setting himself up to give moral instruction to anyone about anything is beyond pathetic. sometimes what looks like hatred is really jealousy, but no one is jealous of stankey, no matter how much money they pay him.

As long as the dividend yields from cash flow remain at a near all time high, the retirement and pension funds that own most of the Death Star think he's doing a swell job. Debt is being refinanced at all time low interest rates, and from their perspective, he's doing just fine. Eventually the debt will inevitably blow up in some CEO's face when interest rates normalize, his #1 job is to keep kicking the can and make sure it isn't him and make retirement easy for the Boomers who own it. If you're a millennial or zoomer who thinks there's a good long term future, you're nuts. AT&T is basically an network provider now with an expensive phone operation that isn't cost competitive with T-Mobile a content operation inferior to Netflix. It needs to jettison every employee that isn't making T-Mobile pay and bring in fresh blood that is happy to take those levels of compensation if it doesn't want to die sooner rather than later.

Don't make Stankey into the victim here OP. The hatred that he and his cronies in the C-Suite receive is well earned.

On no other company thread on this site do you see such absolute hatred from the workers toward their company and its leadership. There is good reason for this.

For decades, starting with Randall in particular, this company has treated its workforce as the enemy. We have been subject to increasingly abusive, high stress working conditions. In the past, workers put up with this in return for good wages, benefits and a secure job for life. But now, as jobs move overseas to the lowest cost sweatshop AT&T can find, as benefits are cut, and as American workers are laid off by the tens of thousands every year, workers are justifiably hateful towards Stankey and his buddies in the boardroom.

And for what? So arrogant f00ls like Randall and Stankey can blow shareholder wealth on vanity acquisitions that fail every time? While they are rewarded for their incompetence with multimillion dollar retirement packages? And the workers pay the price. You're damm right we're upset.

While it might not be fair but leadership gets the brunt of the blame and the praise. All of the decisions to ship jobs overseas, reduce vacations, take away benefits earned, bad investment decisions and wokeness all roll to the top. Although, he likes to take credit when he thinks it's a good decision and hides when it's bad.

Last poster - you got that wrong - he's not a disaster following a disaster...It's much worse than that.

He's a disaster, HAND PICKED by the previous disaster to continue the destruction.

You gotta wonder what the function of a board is. After all, look at Intel - doing poorly / cleaned house with a new CEO to right the ship. The AT&T ship just repainted the word "Titanic" on the side and the board got excited because they thought it was for a new movie.
