In case anybody is wondering if a severance payment would disqualify you from unemployment benefits in the state of Texas, I just received the decision from TWC that Yes, that is the case.
- e. if you received 6 months salary in severance, you need to wait 6 months before qualifying for unemployment payments. You can file before that deadline, but you won't get any payments before the 6 months are up.
Clock seems to start with the date of separation from the company, not the date when you actually received the check.
