Subsidiaries

How many subsidiaries does Honeywell have and how often can we move internally between the subsidiaries?

When I was in the elbow I discovered to my dismay that I wasn't allowed to move to a different division here in the valley. Not enough to humiliate you, they insist on keeping you stuck where you aren't wanted and aren't valued. I'm retired now. I left of my own volition. I didn't play the severance game. Just wanted out.

No matter what you do ALWAYS do the math. No one cares about your retirement except you no matter where you work, they assume you care enough to monitor it yourself. There are no pensions anymore, except rare cases. Unfortunately most people don't realize that retirement is much tougher now that corporations have downsized retirement benefits severely, and now it takes much more personal attention if one expects to have enough to survive after you leave. Key is to get educated and start saving early, and this is even more important for our kids. Do yourself a favor and start taking the right actions to enhance your chances of having a decent retirement fund, and don't depend on ANY company to cover this for you. Sh!t happens and you could lose your job so make sure your plan isn't company dependent. And get your kids on the right track so you don't have to spend retirement worrying about THEIR retirement.

If you are told that HR rules prohibit movement it only means the hiring manager is not willing to ask and your current manager does not want you to grow and succeed.

Continue to interview and specifically ask the question “is this position important enough for you to challenge HR so that you can get the right person working immediately?” If they misdirect, thank them for their time and move on ... they don’t want you. Make sure you are interviewing both inside and outside the company.

If you think your “pension” is holding you in Honeywell make sure you do the math. I jumped at 20 years and found that ten years in a GS position with better pay and MUCH better retirement more than made up for the loss of 10 yrs in Honeywell. This worked for me because of bridged military service.
Point is ... do the math.
Five years in and I have received promotions and COLA adjustments every single year.

I jumped Honeywell when they froze the salary level at 2015 levels in aero. I did the math and the answer was ugly.
Honeywell treated me like dirt. Now I return the favor giving Honeywell paperwork the same fair and equal treatment Honeywell gives overweight and over age fifty employees.

You will have to wait 18 months in your current position before you can move internally from one subsidiary to another one
