Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Bye bye Landlines

This company is so predictable. Starting 1/1/21, all promotions and discounts will stop on POTS. Next step will be to stop selling any new POTS to customers. It just a matter of time.

We have seen this before with DSL circuits, stopped bill discounts, then 6 months later grandfather the service....no new DSL subscriptions

Yes, There was a myCSP article that went out last week, we covered it in a manager huddle.

It's a real shame for customers, plus the price hike.

Where is this documented? I have not seen anything about the loss of this discount.

Landlines? No wonder the company stock is languishing.

Contact your public service commission (psc) or congress it’s still regulated and they can’t retire it without approval. People still use for alarms, medical devices, backup, outages due to storms etc... same with dsl, there is still a lot of areas that is their only internet link. The company’s own admission in recent financial meeting, less than 30 percent of the 22 states have access to fiber.

Until the laws get changed, people can blather on about it being old tech. Satellites, fiber and cell phones isn’t the only solution for everyone.

Still getting held orders for IPDSL and POTS. Some jurisdictions still require copper POTS for alarms for customers to get their occupancy permits.

That's been the plan for more than 10 years. let the legacy products die off.
