The c-suite types may have started much lower, but most didn't spend much time there. You have to move up every couple of years just to make it that high. That means almost all of them have been managing people for at least twenty years. It also means they haven't been doing most of the hands-on work for just as long, if they ever did. I am a level 3 director. It is very easy for people in power to start to believe they are actually different or smarter than the rank and file. I'm not talking about being better, but a more subtle effect where you start to think you understand more than others and need to simplify everything for them. I constantly remind myself to avoid this type of thinking and really finds it isn't true. I may have a little more schooling than most, but that is nothing more than another form or formal training. Its isn't a litmus test for being smart. Regretfully, too many corporate communications look more like school teachers talking down to 5th graders. Here's the feedback to the top dogs... Please stop explaining or rationalizing things to other adults. It is really no different than man-splaining. We are all adults. Just say, "here are the facts" and "here are the rules." We'll take it from there. If we don't like your facts or rules, we'll also take it somewhere else.

The good 1st levels are fleeing management , the very bad old and very bad new are left .It's amazing who is in charge .1st levels for craft that were dispatchers , 1st levels for craft that were put in place on a temporary basis to fill a void created by the sudden departure of the good supervisor. There is no one for me to turn to as a tech that gives a damn about me or my job.Its all about the cones,clean cab , and numbers !
The c-suite is all about maximum compensation and perks with no accountability!!
Op. You need therapy. Put on your grown up drawers you are not in kindergarten. How is the c suite different than our esteemed government leaders? At least we can change jobs. Not so easy to get rid of corrupt politicians.
Dear OP, Clearly you are struggling with getting a grasp on how smart and future oriented we are in Dallas. Everything that we do is for the greater good of everyone. Unfortunately, you have to break some eggs to make an omelette (yes, that is spelled correctly). If you were one of those eggs; our apologies. There are 11 other eggs in the dozen that we are now focused upon. Instead of griping and griefing on this thread go devote your time to something constructive. Surely, we have provided you with plenty of training and experience to find other employment. Happy Holidays!

There is a bit of elitisms when upper management doesn't respect and empower employees. It is unfortunate because most people want to find fulfilling jobs to reach a state of flow. There is a potential to tap into employees brain capital and have them contribute more to the company. The pretension creates a separation of management and employees. It also sets the benchmark of how high employees can develop; only as high as their managers. A manager of many doesn't always know everything. They hire and leverage talented employees with multitude of skillsets. I want to see the company improve. The industrial era management methods are not working.
And our soon to be former president might understand
yep truth - funny you should say 5th graders - every time I hear bill gates talk I think he talks like a fifth grader who hasn't had enough love from his parents and have to prove to everyone how he thinks he is so smart.
