I live in Southern California and still have a land line in addition to my cells. When we had the devastating wildfires a lot of cell phone users couldn't get through because the system was overloaded with users. My land line on the other hand was open all the time and had no interruption in service. That's why I keep it, for emergencies. My land line has never failed me. By the way, both my land line and my cell service is through AT&T.

As mentioned below, many businesses(pizza place, takeout joints, insurance, real estate agents) who can’t get fiber still want pots instead of copper voip because they can’t afford to lose all of their lines when the 1 rotten cable pair goes out.

Lots of folks still need pots because they live in that 1% of the world w/ no ATT cell service & that other 1% if the world that doesn’t have ATT internet service available

Smart people keep their land lines for security and ease of talking. Rich people keep POTS for their gates and alarms. Lots of businesses like having land lines. The world is just figuring out that going paperless is a mistake , so not all old tech is bad. Land lines are here to stay.

It is pretty much of a joke company. Why would I want to buy a fiber line where they don't even guarantee a speed. Wireless was constantly adding fees and any att billing sux.
