Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The Real Culture

So after two failed Mergers for 71 Billion and the 3rd 107 Billion dollar Merger facing more and more daily scrutiny our leadership has decided to decimate long promised employee medical benefits twice in one calendar year (Pre and post Medicare) to save maybe 10 billion in 10 years (guess). After 20,25,30 years of working here we all should have realized it was like flipping burgers at McDonalds- there is no culture it is just a job and the loyalty ends at every paycheck. Senior Leadership will now have folks just going thru the motions and with 150 Billion dollars in debt- the game will be over for them as well in 2-3 years but at least with their parachutes they will be able to pay the doctor bills. Eastern and Pan Am airlines were great company's at one time that treated their employees about the same as our leaders- they are nowhere to be found.................. Pitiful Senior Leadership.

My man Mair said that the culture is the best during disaster recovery. Hes right because my level 2 and 3 managers stop all the bs work they put in place under normal events - like six sigma/msoc coaching, ticket quality reviews, updating the wiki, writing email reports and creating fake tickets to log time - and instead pay extra OT. Funny part is HR now wants to get in the mix and get monthly progress reports too (bless their hearts, they are acting bold y'all). Maybe I will get enough storytelling experience in the future to apply to warnermedia or cnn.

Phasing a benefit out for new employees is one thing, taking it from employees who have earned it through years of service is another. Another scummy move by AT&T, but why am I even surprised anymore?

The loyalty ends at every paycheck - how true. I thought I had built a career. Turns out it was only ever a job. So be it.
