12 days until Christmas. Sales yesterday ( Saturday) were dismal ! I was supposed to work this afternoon. My manager called and told me I wasn’t needed.
How can Barnes and Noble survive?!

I worked at Paramus & during COVID the SM was a male & an arrogant one at that. He spoke in a very condescending manner to women, generally, while slapping male workers on the back & chatting it up with them like they were his buddies.
If he’s still there, I feel especially sorry for female workers. He’s probably making their lives miserable by not treating them with the same respect he gives to men.
I worked in the Paramus store. Team Player must be a member of management. The Booksellers certainly aren’t that arrogant and lying about how things are.
Still know people who work there “Team Player” is total Fiction. Shelve it in B or S.
He? I thought it was a woman.
The people that were laid awhile ago in our Paramus NJ were her a long time and the company decided that to stay alive the ones with more salary and heavy benefits had to go to help stay open. Yes, they had experience, but some were getting stale and not thinkers of change like some of us others. Most of them stood around talking to customers they developed relationships with in the store and wasted time. We need to move move move and sell. Too many taking time off too. I've never taken a sick day.
Lots of arrogance in the Northeast. It’s like they’re so proud trying to be the best monkey in the zoo. See who can fling it the furthest. Laughable.
I worked in the Paramus store. This person is so full of themselves! No one respects his “me me me” attitude.
and ,a word of advice and truth. Those puckering up and kissin up, only do so to your face. Then, they laugh behind it.
"you need leaders like me" LOL. I bet your whole store doesn't say that!
Oh look! Here are some of YOUR REVIEWS:
Only work there if you can kiss you know what
Receiving Clerk (Former Employee) - Paramus, NJ - February 8, 2018
The only way to advance is to be a total yes man and to kiss butt. I wasn't a buddy to management and got screwed over every chance they got. No one there cares about you if you don't blow smoke up their butts.
Tedious
Customer Assistant (Former Employee) - Paramus, NJ - June 12, 2012
Barnes and Noble was a typical retail position. Very few days off, if any.
Pros
great people that i worked with in non-management
Cons
everything else
I work at the Paramus NJ store which is the best in NJ. It's a flagship store and our crew is on the job and selling. I've been here a long time and you need leaders like me and someb others to get the place and shape and sell sell sell. No time for complainers. We got to make it work
Leaders- like you- will be looking for jobs soon.
The following (written undoubtedly by a manager kissing the regional manager's a–) is hilarious!
Let's dissect it, shall we?
I work at the Paramus NJ store which is the best in NJ. (Seriously, what makes it THE BEST? They haven't charged you rent for the last 6 months?)
It's a flagship store (just because it's a flagship store, doesn't mean it will survive, so is ours and we can barely pay the rent and staff) our crew is on the job and selling (only when you're around- the part-time kids you've hired have no desire or reason to sell anything- you are delusional). I've been here a long time (you missed your sell-buy date and too bad you couldn't find a real job when you were still young) and you need leaders like me (B&N leaders are the reason why all the GOOD sellers are gone, the worst decisions were made and the company will never survive this pandemic) and some others to get the place and shape and sell sell sell (once again, your employees aren't going out of they way to sell, they are not commissioned and the pay s—s, they're only k–ling time until they get a real job) No time for complainers. (And yet, here you are!) We got to make it work.(Good luck with unemployment and looking for your new job-IF they'll hire you!)
"would be interested to know which bn you guys work at"
What bn do YOU work "at"?

Why do they come here then? They're so worried about their jobs, that's why
Makes sense.
All those complaining about ex employees on here; if your EMPLOYED by BN, why are you on a “layoff” site?
I bet it's that id–t Paul...yadayada Formers, yadayada Formers, oh please.
Why do they come here then? They're so worried about their jobs, that's why!
“ Interesting how curious @1nsm+18osChZI didn't tell us which store they're from. Hm”
Hmmm must be one of those “former” employees.
You people and your disturbed onevtrack minds.
I work at a BN.
We were slow this weekend.
I’m NOT getting fired by listing the store I work in.
Only an id–t ( like the ones who blame the world’s ills on former employees) would list their store on a public forum.
Grow up and get out of mom’s basement.
Interesting how curious @1nsm+18osChZI didn't tell us which store they're from. Hmm.
I work at the Framingham store and it is very disturbing, Even our manager is worried.
“ ex employees larping.”
Again with the “formers” being to blame for everything.
Book shelved wrong? It’s a former
Store filthy? The formers didn’t clean
No customers? THATS the formers telling everyone they know about the real BN.

would be interested to know which bn you guys work at. mine has increased hours. even part timers are working full time through the holidays. i'll admit i have no idea what is happening post-christmas but i tend to wonder how much of the posts here are just ex employees larping.
Our hours were cut today too. And, more hours cut this coming week.

Try grocery stores, d–g stores like CVs and Amazon
Here too. The weather was nice and no one was coming in. Everyone is scared of Covid and is buying online. We are doomed. I've been asking people who come in if they know anyone who is hiring.
