Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

How is it over at UOP?

RIF victim of the Great Purge of Summer 2020 here. In case there are a few people from UOP who still check this site, I'm curious how you guys in the different groups have been doing. We were stupidly overworked even during RIF season, so I have nothing but love and sympathy for those of you who are left.

Another round of involuntary layoffs at UOP (as predicted) on 1/20/21. Mostly DP, but also some in Bracknell. Separation date 2/3/21.

UOP R&D asked for RIF volunteers in December (effective Feb, 2021). Don’t know how many volunteers there were - but expect it to be a small number considering how many folks were RIFed earlier in 2020. It would stand to reason that involuntary RIFs would occur in Feb if RIF volunteers do not meet management target.

Meanwhile workload is still extremely high with nearly everyone working on multiple high-priority/fast-track projects at same time. Not a sustainable working environment IMO.

All I know is I want to thank all the expensive ex-overhead posting here. It’s your hard work and sacrifice that allowed me my bonus this year from all the profit we made!! And while it’s been difficult not traveling business class to exotic locals on my P-Card, while drinking and eating only the best, being home and playing golf at the company expense most weekdays has been rewarding as well. Happy Holidays all! Here’s to 2021!

World sentiment toward oil and plastic is going to put continued pressure on UOP. The world leaders have already decided to end the era of oil.
Obviously this will take 50 years. Stock is driven by the future not today.

good folk at Antwerp and Rolle already out the door but they aren't being replaced in Europe (if at all).
under-resourced already and just getting worse tossing away people with actual knowledge.
clueless and there are more in the pipeline

Seems most if not all new hires were officially let go this week. HR had strung them along for months, but not officially rescinded their employment offers.

College kids are well connected

We won’t be able to recruit top candidates for a long time.... sad to see what Honeywell did to UOP since buying in 2005.

I remember Cotes presentation well. We love UOP. We won’t change a thing. We will keep a veil of separation between HQ a d UOP. I think the first lay-off was 2 weeks later and hasn’t stopped

  • what a sh*tshow. That's how it is.

But, in the head of management we are still the best and all thanks to our strong work force in India and China.
Antwerp and Role offices to be closed by may 2021. Everybody with experience fired and to be replaced in UK or.....correct; India or China.
Training for those people is next to none. Half a day, is literally all they get.
It is unimaginable that any customer in emea or fsu will place any orders with UOP for hydrogen.
I forgot the exact number, let's say that revenue is down by 99% or so.

Modular is down about 40% in revenue. Very calm on proposal side.

Sinco sold few units, but no people left to execute. At least none that know what they are doing.

Licensing, no idea.

From an amazing company to this black hole in just over 10 years. All due to greed and upper mgmt incompetence.
SAD.
