Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Another round of WFR measures in Germany in 2021?

Now that 30% of the German staff are gone, I have heard from multiple people that DXC in Germany will go through another round of WFR measures, possibly in March next year in addition to the office closures they plan.

The ink is not dry yet and the latest round really damaged the morale and the reputation, given how the management has treated some of the 30% who didn't go voluntarily.

It seems extremely counterproductive and dumb but has anyone heard something similar?

Is there a significant number of employees left in Germany anyhow?

Minimum 30% left with the last round, every year before roughly 10% were cut lose.
So, there are less than 2,5k people left, for the 4-5 billion revenue in Germany.

That can't be right can it? CSC closed Wiesbaden site a while ago and AFAIK employees were offered to work at another site (was it Frankfurt?) and some did stay.

Not that I pretend to understand German employment law mind you!

It's a legal loophole to get rid of a big number of employees fast without taking social criteria into account. If the location is shut own, the jobs are deemed to be not needed any longer. You can't pick and choose some employees to move to another location. (Exceptions prove the rule...)
As an employer, it might give you bad press, but no legal trouble or lengthy and expensive suits.

Why does closing an office mean firing all of the people based there?

That can't be because "Germany"

Office closure in Germany means that all employees allocated to that location are laid off. No one has been actually working inside of an office building since spring.
BTW, I heard the same. But just from the rumor mill.

#8KP don't take things for granted, Likely more cuts to follow in Europe and most of these get cut are invaluable technical staff and not the real dead wood dragging the company down - ineffectual, duplicate and bad middle management # where there are still too many of these in this company for it to succeed.

office closures - All the offices should be closed, work from home! Our kids do school work from home, there is no reason to work in an office unless you have to physically touch equipment. My god man were a digital company!
