Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

So, who are we cutting now?

After 8 or 9 rounds of cuts... Assuming we've eliminated all folks with performance issues... Assuming we've eliminated all folks that were mediocre...

Who are we cutting now?

Any confirmation when cuts will start?
I’ve heard Tuesday, Jan 26th but would imagine it will take 2-3 days to do this virtually.

I have seen a lot of the "Assets" at Foster Creek and Christina Lake. For a lot of them, the most important "valve" they operated all day was the handle on the ice cream machine before Covid hit and they were taken from use.

Fat and the old boys club exist everywhere. Let's hope the purge happens to them all, regardless of work location.

Well they just inherited a fresh pile of fat from Husky. Husky is very top heavy. It is not uncommon for a site to have more supervisors than operators on the floor. Talk about a bureaucratic nightmare and of course with the number of managers in Husky nobody is held accountable as they have no responsibilities.
True to form though,They do like to deflect blame on to their reports.

Assets and Liabilities:
If at some point during the day you operate a valve. You are an asset.
If the biggest decision made during your work day is where your going for lunch. You are a liability

If the old boys club at CVE is not dismantled the company is going to fall in years, I agree.

Too many yes men, empire builders, and managers that keep their friends around but layoff good people. This old boys club has to go or the company is going down.

Every round of layoffs has further concentrated the id–ts. Each time we have to let go of people it's the best employees first because they represent a challenge to their managers. Calgary also being such a small town everyone protects their friends no matter how many headaches they cause. Look for Cenovus to be dumped in a sale within 5 years!

Gee and look all of a sudden safety is a concern because no one is paying attention to details. This is what happens when you distract people with never ending layoffs. Any incidents can sit right at Alex’s doorstep. Sleep well Alex knowing you are the one who is causing everyone stress and distractions.

First you cut away the fat. Then you cut away the muscle, them you cut the bone.....from the feedback here. They are hacking on the marrow right now.

That’s why the online resumes and talent profiles and potential ratings are all a misdirection. They don’t care who you are or what you do they will cut you to make their budget numbers. Look at the accounting team. They will make them slave away on getting all the company year end numbers pulled together which is a huge job then we get laid off in March. Thanks for all the hard work and don’t let the virtual door hit you on the way out.

Same with the winter program drilling and earthworks teams. Get that winter done so we have our production on track. Then beat it.

They could care less about any of us for all their garbage or fairness and respect. All they care about is their budget.
