Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

How would you fix BN?

A lot of us resent our superiors for bad business moves, but I wonder if there is any “right” business strategy that would put BN back in the game.

Honestly, I don’t know what turnaround in business could help this company right now. To invest more in e-Commerce?

We are just workers, but I wonder if anyone has a good idea and vision of what would help?

The revolving CEO door cost them a fortune and implemented their failed ideas from other companies that got rid of them.
The new management of the month would come around and asked us how things were and then did nothing to fix what we told them.
Let them flush with the rest of trash.

I wouldn’t even try! While I worked there, no one wanted to hear ideas! Just follow the planogram & do what you’re told!

Ideas from the low-life booksellers were never welcome! What did we possibly have to contribute? We only worked on the ground floor & interacted with customers & heard their opinions. That didn’t count. Just put out the books, walk the customers to the shelves & place the book in their hands. Sell memberships, books, and make plan. That’s it.

Oh, and feed the fragile managers’ egos by s—ing up so that maybe you’d catch a break now & then.

Liquidate. It's time to put it out of its misery. If there's a demand for local bookstores, they will appear, but it's unlikely that anything like B&N will come around. The all genre bookstore is Amazon and public libraries.

How would I fix it ?
Refund everyone their membership fee ( to avoid another lawsuit) say “ thanks for sticking by us when we didn’t deserve you@ and padlock the doors.

Face facts. Daunt bought the company to make money. The company isn’t making money. He’s been in this position before and will sell off the inventory and move on ! That’s what he does !

There's no way to fix it. B&N is now as popular as a rotary phone. I am lucky I just found a new great job with a company which pays more and appreciates their employees.
I say, good riddance to the horrible managers and our Regional Manager, who should have been fired years ago. They've done nothing to make the company better, in fact, they've only found ways to blame and fire those who worked under them!

Good luck to employees who have had to endure the years of bad treatment and the lack of good management.

RIP B&N

Smaller stores with a more aggressive front list, an improved cafe, seating and maybe a change in how they do their membership all can give Barnes and Noble some unique advantages to Amazon.
