Does anyone know if they take out 401k and HSA contributions from your last paycheck including your vacation buy out?

I was management.
For the vacation payout, there was no 401k taken.
For the last normal paycheck, they deducted 401k as usual.
last pay check and vacation payout were separated for me.
I was management so I’m not sure if it’s different for union, but they did take 401k and medical out of my last check. I got pro-rated vacation time. In all that surplus documentation I printed out before I left, there was a page detailing how exactly they prorate the vaca time. Many people told me they don’t take out 401k etc but they definitely did for me. They don’t take it out of a severance check, they just tax the he-l out of that.
Looking at my last paycheck they took money for my HSA and 401k. Vacation pay was also included in my last paycheck. I’m in California, might be different depending on state, I don’t know.
401k will not be taken out on last pay check.
a vacation pay out check might be cut separately.
