Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Can someone repost why union was voted out at Olathe Kansas Aero site

I hate to have the person rewrite their answer to how the employees were tricked by Honeywell to decertify the union.

Sorry, but layoffs.com deleted the posting .
Hopefully that person will read this and respond.
Many thanks

See the link (copy/paste into your browser). I've pasted in the paragraph that's in bold type that states the Honeywell HIPAC committee is suspending contributions to those in Congress that voted against certifying the election results.

"The Board also unanimously agreed this week that HIPAC should suspend contributions to Members of Congress who voted against certifying the election results. We currently plan to apply this suspension through the 117th Congress, although the Advisory Board will continue to evaluate this decision on a case-by-case basis through the lens of our rigorous governance process."

Candidates have the right to challenge, argue and object to what's on the lunch menu for the day. But they aren't allowed to even request an investigation into the validity and legality of of the democratic process of public voting? If it's so solid and tamper proof, then prove it.

Agree. PAC says they will consider support of democratic process etc. does this mean they will refuse to fund any candidate who has challenged election results ? I hope so. The list is long.

This thread doesn't understand the moral. It's the Government that needs to change and then you can Unionize your site. Stop voting for candidates that support Corporate Issues and start voting for people that can help YOUR bottom line instead of the BIG H!

The only purpose for the union is to make HON life difficult. Like a previous poster stated , the company has unions across the country and that has not stopped the consolidations one bit.

About the only thing it does is forces them to announce a little sooner.

Ask Coon Rapids or South Bend.

Unions are no longer unions. They are lobbyists. They line their own pockets while whispering in the ears of corporations and politicians. Honeywell has union shops all over the country, and they did what they did, whether there was union present or not. The unions did nothing but roll over and wag their tail.

They’re not useless. That’s what corporations want us to think. Look at all Honeywell did this year and years past and tell me they’re not needed. They’re needed more than ever.

If unions are useless why does Honeywell call in hit squads and crisis teams at even the rumor of a new unionization effort.

Once upon time in the Land of Ah's.
There once was a Giant who wanted to turn defecation into a precious metal. The Giant had at it's disposal two groups of workers in multiple spots. The first group of workers realized that doing this type of work required protections. The second group of workers was willing to do the work without the protections. Over time the cost of turning the defecation into the precious metal began to grow, up to the point that the Giant realized it needed to have only one group of workers turning the defecation into a precious metal in one spot but it didn't want to provide the protections that the 1st group of workers wanted/needed. The Giant found a group who promised they could accomplish that goal. The group had a brilliant process to to convince all the workers that the protections were not necessary and the Giant followed it like a dog in heat.

A petitioned was put before an Gnome to do away with the protections, the 2nd group of workers and some of the 1st group ensured that the petition was put into effect. Within 6 weeks the Giant realized it had too many workers and a 1/3rd of all the workers were told they didn't have a job anymore. Some of those workers had agreed to the petition to eliminate the protections which was sad as they had been with the Giant for a very long time and were considered to be good workers. They cried to the Giant "your hurting the wrong workers" we did what you wanted but to no avail because the Gnome would punish the Giant if all of the first group of workers were let go.

The moral of this story is: you only have 2 options, leave and find a new place to turn defecation into a precious metal or stay and learn to live with the Giant. If the Giant finds out that a group of workers wants the protections back it will take the process of turning defecation into a precious metal to another land in the blink of an eye because it has convinced the Gnome that's the best course of action for all.

Dude, this is Kansas. People here are brought up believing unions are __________. (Pick your description: Socialist, Communist, Marxist, Un-democratic, Want to take your freedoms away).

Oh here we go with the stupid union BS again. Unions are useless. Been there, done that. Unions are for unions, not people. They will do anything to further the union, but the people they are supposed to represent are nothing but pathetic little pawns.

@1drj; Copy/paste the above link in your browser and see the article. My sister works at Raytheon Missile Systems in Tucson and is in the machinists union there. My wife is also in a union as a teacher in Arizona. There are unions in Arizona so I don't get your "right to unionize on the ballot" comment.

That was a great post. Hope the author reposts.

I recall: Lawrence KS site had no unions. They were given higher pay and better benefits. When the sites consolidated the Union was seen by employees as being less desirable because of the higher wages and benefits of the coworkers. A vote was taken to decertify to access the perceived higher benefits. We know how this ended.

Merging a union and non union location ( CR & Clw?) while manipulating rewards at the non union site is clever.

Now that republicans have imploded the union folks (me!) are going to double down on lobbying and go after states like Arizona and Florida. Time for states to get “right to unionize” on the ballot right next to the “right to work for no wages” amendments.
