I was always told that I had job security because of the "old school" knowledge I had. During my 30 year tenure, I held the T/L position for the cash office. Since then I had been placed in bakery and other floor positions. Currently now a front-line associate, but the ONLY one in the club who knows anything with the cash recycler and any accounting issues. I have been asked to resolve bank discrepancies. I have been asked to research large shortages. I have found MSL's stealing gift cards and credit info. I have pointed to cashiers who have "sticky fingers". I still assist with LP issues and only one who knows what a 1099 is and MTR's are. But because I am a senior, it's best to place me as a door greeter as I seem to be too old (or not cute) to cashier. We are experiencing ageism, being belittled, bullied and over looked for any promotions. Cannot just leave. Too soon for retirement but when the time comes, I do wish them luck.

Just another example of " sometimes you get what you wish for" the company depends on those of us "old timers" who have loyalty and knowledge.....good luck with the new way of running a company.....the members are noticing the "who cares" attitude.......looking forward to retirement, you will not even wish me a happy retirment, just a " don't let the door hit you where the dear lord split you"!!

Accountability is something that unfortunately is lacking in my club and probably in a whole lot of clubs. Long time associates get leaned on for everything. While others just hang back, chew the clock, and don't give a c-ap. Best of luck when the senior people finally come to their senses and say peace out. You will miss their work ethic then, when you get a half a– effort from someone else who has no clue which way is up.

the company does not want knowledge, experience, problem solvers, or anyone that can think on their own. they want people that can read an email & follow its instruction. do not ask questions—just do it.
the decision making people at corporate are a bunch of insecure control freaks. they're greed driven crooks who's sole interest is making as much money for themselves as possible. the company & it's associates matter not. take a look at how long any of them stay in a position. they move around or move on after banking millions. then get one of their buddies on board to do the same.

The bad thing is at our club we have about12 old timers. Once we are gone. The club will go to hell. They no idea how bad the new people are now. They don't want to come to work and they sure don't want to work. Maybe if we do leave they will finally hold some of the lazy people accountable.

it has nothing to do with how much you make an hour it is the cost of your benefits PTO, Health Insurance they want a part time work force with no benefits.

I don't know why they would want to get rid of old timers, we are now not making anymore than the "newbies". It took us years and years to make what they are bringing in the new associates at. It's completely unfair and a slap in the face because we have so much knowledge and experience.

I have worked at Sams for 27 years. I worked in many areas and then had to lose my cash office position because of the automated system. To keep full time I took the only position open which was on the floor, I lost over $1 per hour because of this. To see the people that they now have working as supervisors on the frontend making more than me when they are first hired is sad. These " supervisors" have the worst attitudes towards our members and other associates and truly do not give a damn about Sam's. They are loud mouthed, rude and lazy and I hear them many times making fun of other associates as if they are better then everyone else. It seems we have reached the bottom of the barrel as far as associates go.

They lost me last year after almost 25 years. Falling me a another person followed after working there for 30 years. That's exactly what they want is for all of them to quite, most are making well over $20.00 an hour.
