It does make sense when it costs way more to make WW then other shows/movies that could go on HBO Max.
Disney is keeping thier heavyweight releases for after the pandemic, that doesn't mean they have nothing new to put on Disney+ in the meantime

This whole home first release viewing is just temporary while people avoid theaters and the pandemic rages, once this pandemic is a distant memory the studios will buy up the remaining theater properties and slowly remove first run showing from home TV , this is all part of keeping SOME revenue coming in.. It doesnt make sense pushing these release off, as there getting no invcome
I would have been far more upset paying theatre ticket prices and being gouged at the concession stand then I was seeing at it at home. If I never went to another movie it wouldn’t bother me in the least

Pushing Wonder Woman 1984 onto HBO max was short sighted, they should have used other ways to promote the platform instead of taking one of the crown jewels of Warner IP and foregoing all the theater revenue. They should have held off that movie until 2021 as the article suggests.
The movie wasn't "amazing" but that slight, call it "cornyness" in moments in tbe film, is part of the blockbuster in-theatre experience, it wasn't made for the in-home experience.
