Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Companies increasing vacation flexibility (well, except for..)

Because fewer people could take their vacation in 2020, some companies are increasing flexibility. The article expresses shock that it's only 42% of companies:

"Just 42% of companies said they are making changes to vacation policies to boost flexibility, including increasing carryover limits for unused time off, according to a report by consulting firm Willis Towers Watson."

Yet AT&T is not only reducing flexibility, but it's actually TAKING IT AWAY from significant numbers of employees. What does the underperforming garbage in the C-suite expect to happen to productivity?

Dear @2cmf,
Wrong. While earning my MSEE with a 3.5 GPA I applied for a job at SBC. At interview, I was told that "my type was a dine a dozen". My Type? White, Anglo - Saxon, Protestant, Male with an Undergrad degree in Electrical Engineering and earning my MS in EE. I was told that if I were Black and better yet A Woman that I would be hired on the spot. But with my credentials, come back (they held slots open for Executive Children). Months later I was hired and told that I had to take the employment test. You know, John bought a pie and ate 1/2. Then he gave his sister 1/4 and his brother 1/8 of a slice - what size slice is left for dad? Or 50% of 100 is what? or Today is 1-6-2021 and John was born 4-1-1972, how old is John is years, months and days? Real tough. At any rate, I was the only "Cra.cker " among the 12 other afro sheen participants taking the GMD test. I look over and Rayford be copying my answers. Incredible. Caught cheating on a test that even a 5th grader could pass. Incredible.
If your dumb enough to hire on without a pension or healthcare, then your truly d.u.m.b., but you made the choice. As far as same skills or same work - it takes 1 white person to take up the load for 5 ebonies AND to also do his own work. Tell you bologna somewhere else.

AT&T needs to unshackle its legacy employees from the pension. It's incredibly discriminatory that we stepped up diversity hiring in 2015 - the same year that we ended the pension for new hires. We have a 2-tier employee base now. The white people with pensions and the minorities who.l get paid less for doing the same work.

Unless you are brand new to the company. On day 1 now 23 vacation days and 9 holidays. And 3 months paid parental leave for each kid! They are sticking it to the long timers here.

When you have a Board of Directors that are only concerned with increasing compensation for the Chairman and CEO the company will not move forward. The top two individuals got over 20% compensation increases while the average manager saw less than 1% net increase in compensation after healthcare increases and pension losses!!

Despite a decade of failure:

  • failure to capitalize on widespread consumer broadband need for more than 20 years
  • failure to capitalize on a multi-billion dollar tax cut and net neutrality rulings
  • literally creating from nowhere AT&T's biggest competitor, with AT&T money and AT&T spectrum
  • the loss of $40 billion in value by a failed strategic purchase of DirecTV
  • the massive failure of a Warner Media purchase, saddling the company with incomprehensible debt
  • the failure to compete with 5G
  • the failure to climb even one step out of the basement in customer service, remaining as one of the most hated companies in America
  • the "leaders" on Akard STILL know better than every customer, employee, analyst, and investor out there. To them, there is no other rational explanation.
