Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

The new year is Friday and HW still has not announced the sick time policy for 2021

I think they are feeling out the room to see if they can get away with screwing the employees with "accrued sick time" during the pandemic without a major blowback. PATHETIC

2021 PAID SICK LEAVE AVAILABILITY FOR NON-EXEMPT U.S. EMPLOYEES

Because of the COVID-19 public health emergency, Honeywell decided in 2020 to allow non-exempt U.S. employees covered under the company’s paid sick leave policy to access their paid sick leave at any time. This was a temporary change in our policy, which calls for employees to accrue paid sick leave on a pro-rata basis over the year.

With the pandemic still ongoing, the company has decided to continue the temporary change through 2021. This means covered employees will be able to access their paid sick leave at any time during the calendar year. Our intent is to help those who get sick for any reason, including with COVID-19. We continue to urge employees to take all necessary safety precautions, such as practicing social distancing, wearing facial coverings, and avoiding large gatherings, to limit their exposure to the virus.

This policy applies to any non-exempt employee who was otherwise covered by the company’s paid sick leave policy in the U.S. (other than employees working at sites in Puerto Rico). The policy generally does not apply to employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement; employees employed directly by Honeywell affiliates with whom the U.S. Government has contracted to manage and operate a Federal government operation; individuals classified by the company as contract, contingent or leased workers; and individuals classified by the company as consultants or independent contractors.

What kind of loser waits with baited breath for a sick policy? Answer: The kind of employee who drives Honeywell leaders to believe their employees will abuse a sick policy no matter what it is.

Be a good sport. Take a week off as sick time and let us know what a new policy is

There was a change in the policy last year for hourly employees.

The change was earn as you go. So many hours of actual work to earn a single hour of PTO. This was not popular as very few people had hours to roll over at the the end of the previous 2019. It was about a month and a half before they could earn a full day. Which meant that people did not have any sick time right in the middle of cold and flu season.

With the onset of COVID19, Honeywell recanted and granted the full quota of sick time in March.

I think the question is: What will this year's policy be? Will we be given all sick time up front or will it be slowly "earned"?

Look on the HR website at the policy manual. If there are no changes there won't be any announcement.

Isn’t that what unlimited PTO is for?

Were they supposed to make an announcement about Sick Time Policy changes for 2021? I must've missed that email.

Hey Small Guy,

If nothing changes why is there a need for announcements?

Does your mama hold your hand for everything?
