Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Leadership team announced

Well - here was the first opportunity to lead by example and shrink the size of the CLT. Instead, there are now 11 members, 5 of the former Husky members “have agreed to take on other leadership roles within Cenovus”, and only 2 of the separate company executives have actually “departed”.

Get ready for the peasants to pay once again.

Yeah - I guess I was wrong about AR. I remember that note he sent regarding the Olympics that no one wanted to host because there was no money in the coffers - completely out of touch. But that's what the rich/senior management don't realize. The workers/population will always speak their mind and their vote outside of a dictator/micromanaging culture, the majority rules.....no Olympics for spoon-fed offspring.....Daddy will get you a job........Daddy will pay your cell phone bill.......not to worry - right AP?? Unreal. I do feel sorry for the workers that will be losing their jobs to pay for the 11 execs and their ridiculous bonuses. CNRL took a cut - why won't you? Why are you doing this right before Xmas? Do you think anyone will have a good Xmas with the weight of potentially losing their jobs? It's like they try and purposely find ways to mess with their staff's lives. Like honestly- most of these people have children.......that's okay though - this was in the works since Mr. Husky came over - I wondered - why is he coming to CVE? As usual, the workers are overlooked. I hope you guys can find a way to look past the lousy timing of this and find a way to have a decent Xmas.....look after yourselves because heaven knows, your management sure won't. Top 10 Worst Company WORLDWIDE on GlassDoor - think about that.........

AR and KD should both be gone. Good riddance to Al, he tried pushing a yes vote to the Olympics in Calgary on CVE staff because he has connections there, and looked stupid when everyone voted NO. KD is an a$$ kisser who fell into the position he’s in. Neither would be missed.

Al Reid is a good guy. No wonder he’s retiring. And the ESG head has a journalist background. How fitting. You wouldn’t want an engineer or environmental background right. You want someone who can spin the news and follow the script. Of course. Cve has always been the biggest liar and manipulator on the stage. Only the a&$ kissers stay and need apply. This is where the political gamers flourish. Really thought AP was bringing a new perspective but it turns out the only consistent game is every 10 years the chosen ones win the lottery. Split in 2009 = more executives. 2020 = more executives. Guess who pays for this = workers. Simple formula

Al Reid was retired. Harbir is no longer an EVP. Otherwise a couple of SVP’s were promoted to EVP. They sure aren’t saving money on the Cenovus side.

Dear Husky person,
Of course it was a take over. Cenovus bought Husky it was not a merger of equals. Husky was going bankrupt and the takeover was a necessity. So yes that’s why cenovus mgmt is the majority.

Husky guy here. With the composition of the new executive team announced today, the whole thing is beginning to look like a takeover of Husky (as I suspected all along) rather than a merger of the two companies as they want us to believe. Imagine, out of 11 executive team, only 2 are from husky (less than 20%). This composition is a signal to me of what to expect with the rest of the workforce. I am guessing that not more than 25% of the total workforce of the new company will be from Husky while Cenovus will take the remaining 75%. Good for you Cenovus folks but very bad for us for Husky folks!

HR will double, SCM and IT will triple all the “new CLT” will promote their yes-man favorites, so we’ll triple the number of directors and VPs and the hardworking peasants will be out looking for jobs. 11 CLT what a joke.

You loser HR people will be hacked the most. The fewer of you left the better.

Well that didn’t take long. Guess you guys don’t have enough work to do. So I agree. Time to start hacking .... it will be sad to see you go .... oh wait. No it won’t. Don’t think your leaders don’t know who you are .... if you are crying on here I can guarantee it will show in your work and attitude too.

This proves they are not serious about saving money at least at the top. They’re more than willing to hack at our levels but god forbid the fat guys at the top with the biggest salaries be let go. Their egos couldn’t take it or their holiday mansions they go to don’t pay for themselves. What good is HC now anyway?
