Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

July 6 2021

Anyone else surprised they are going to allow WAH until next July?

A lot of companies are already going back to the office.

Does anyone know which sites will remain open? Will Charlotte be one of them?

@1qmm+17vdf3Yb they have identified the buildings that are being sold or downsized, those that are being kept have already been told.

I think it gives Allstate more time to figure out which facilities to close/consolidate and work through that before anyone returns to the office. I think that is probably the primary reason for extending remote work...some positions may move to permanent remote so that buildings can be closed completely. If it isn’t one of the four “talent centers” then don’t hold your breath on returning!

I would say 2 out of every 3 people I know who were sent to work remote are already back in the office. They have protocols in place and have had zero problems, if a person is concerned about becoming ill they should be given the option to work from home. I know 2 friends who's companies had been monitoring their employees with some program you can install and productivity overall is down that led to them getting people back in the office.

Its a fact that the vaccine will be mandatory to return to any place of work, school and other public places once it is available. Dont kid yourself in thinking this wont happen. No one will definitely be able to travel without it especially international travel. I dont know if anyone knows about disease and pandemic history, but if you were born in the early seventies or before you have a vaccine scar on your upper left arm. This was for small pox which was one of the most deadliest viruses ever that first hit over 3000 years ago and returned as a pandemic more than once. A vaccine was discovered in 1796. Routine vaccination in children began around mid 19th century and continued until early 1970's when it was finally eradicated.

Vaccine will be available for widespread distribution to the public in spring 2021. I am guessing Allstate wasnt going to re-open until after the dust settles. I imagine they would make it mandatory for employees to get the vaacine before returning to work.

Completely uninterested in going back to the office until there is a vaccine. I’d rather be safe than sorry. July sounds good to me.

I wouldn't want to work for a company that is reopening their offices when it's not absolutely necessary in the middle of a pandemic-this is one area that I would argue Allstate has handled things appropriately.

Allstate doesnt care what anyone thinks. I can pretty much guarantee that the MAJORITY do not like it one bit to be couped up at home for this long, especially those with children. They are probably going nuts and pulling their hair out. Allstate is stretching out this covid situation as long as they can in keeping people home, but eventually they KNOW they have to return to the office. They also want this extra time to continue their layoffs and restructuring/reorganizing.
