I have nothing against evolving and adapting to the situation, but I honestly envy a bit everyone who has transferable work skills and finds it easy to keep a job with minimal retraining. I just read an article which says that staying in O&G is harder than ever, which is very discouraging. Changing the industry is also a big challenge - don’t know how easy it is for oil workers to look for work maybe in agriculture or logistics??? Wonder where laid-off EM workers found their next jobs...
In case someone is interested, here is the article: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/oil-and-gas-after-layoff-bounceback-statistics-canada-report-1.5762201
Data from Statistics Canada study were used but I don't think Canada is unique on this issue.
