Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Productivity this week?

I see myself being fairly useless the next week or so. Anyone else feeling this way? I just want to know what’s next, you know?

I have been productive, as usual, as I will be at my new better paying job next year. I enjoy the work and I enjoy the challenge. Happy to have been given the opportunity at Chevron and I am grateful for the severance to pad my retirement account, which I didn't even have to work for. I am way ahead of the game and on track for early retirement.

Hey just keep working hard! Sure your whole life might change, and you have no way to control it. But it’s fine. Just work!

Bunch of dead inside sociopaths here. The isn’t about not working. But about being preoccupied. Which would be the natural human response to fully actualized people. Btw - to the “nothing to see here, just work hard” crowd - your kids resent you.

When the company is showing no loyalty to employees and only to dividends they cannot expect people to be working full speed as they wait until they know if they have a job or not. They have crushed morale so there are consequences to actions.

2qfn you mean you will do what you always do all year that got you where you are now, about to be left standing? Good luck with that.

What twilight zone are we in where a company tells its employees to stand by as it goes through a selection process in one week then notifies its employees the next week who stays and who goes? What a joke. Everyone should just surf the internet and catch up on tik tok videos at work until they hear the news.

I have been staying busy, no different than any time. I don't understand why anyone would expect to be paid for not working. No one that I know is doing that, and definitely no one who I would have any respect for. I suspect that there may be a few like that but they are headed out the door, where they belong anyway.
Block the Blowhard's comment too then, buttwipe.

Who are these self righteous blow hards who think this shouldn’t be impacting performance? Putting people in a chaotic and uncertain environment where they can’t control the outcome might be the worst thing you could do for morale. Loyalty is a 2 way street...

@OP, How does that make this week any different than any other for you? It's very obvious from your comment.

Come on @pwx. You really believe “corporations exist for reasons other than to make a profit. They have a key role to play in providing social stability to the country.”???? Let me set you straight. Corporations exist solely to make and to bring their shareholders a profit!!!! Do you think for a second that investors will stick around and hold any stock if they could earn more money somewhere else?

I thought I couldn’t care less, but this week I reached a whole new level of not giving a fukc. Going to post some uplifting comments about Teaming on Workplace to brighten my mood.

No encouraging words from Mike in the final phase. I guess he’ll bless us with a prepared statement after it’s all over.

I’m in full blown eff it mode. Going fishing I think. Boss is totally checked out. Can get anyone to return emails or calls in basic stuff. It’s basically a blackout.

The day I hit the EOI button was the day it became difficult to work.

Yes, I still do my job but I see all these upcoming due dates and I know in the back of my head I’m am not likely to be here and so any type of consequences for missing those dates doesn’t really matter for me. I am hopeful when they tell me my EOI was accepted that my boss will just tell me to leave right away.

I am excited for the next new chapter in my life.

Super productive, am able balance work/Personal much better now. Why is there even a boundary . really at all. I work on mission critical system so I'm available 24x7x365 days a year any how. I prefer balancing my day between different tasks. Chevron, cooking at home. errands, exercise, and repeat re[- cycle, so much healthier really and less interruption because coworkers cannot walk into my office and interrupt me in the middle of work that requires 100% of my attention.

Even after the reductions in force, I think Chevron will have too many people. But that is okay because corporations exist for reasons other than to make a profit. They have a key
role to play in providing social stability to the country.

I have been 3 times more productive five since the Covid hit US and working from home. The workload has been much h higher but I also had more flexibility on finishing and doing new stuff. If you are not motivated, the problem is you not the company y, Chevron pays well and cares about your health and well being, you can always use the 1000 hour sick leave per year to mentally get ready ot take your vacation to get mentally and physically ready.
