Craft layoffs happen in March, June, September and December (usually the 15th). October could have possibly been for management.

"Managers gonna git cause they’s lazy." Nothing could be further from the truth. My manager actually works his a– off. He is on even when he is off. 20 years craft here. I have had at least 13 managers. Only 1 lazy one. You don't want the be a first level. They get c-apped on with BS that you wouldn't believe.

It would appear to be obvious that additional layoffs would come to areas of the country where the workload is shrinking and employees are enjoying a lot of down time! However, it’s not how senior management sees the big picture! There’s no method to their madness! It just happens, period!

Generally, based on history/past practices, layoff announcements/calls are done on Friday mornings. We are officially in 4th QTR, so possibly 10/16. This is based on the new 14 day rule set for management. No sure if the contract requires longer for craft.
